Digitone Midi Clock Hanging

Hey everyone

I’m using Ableton as my master clock and the central piece of my live performance. My Digitone is being triggered by clips in Ableton.

Two issues I had during a performance on the weekend:

Issue 1: The Digitone froze.
Thankfully sound continued to play but the screen itself locked up and i could no longer control it from the Digitone. I wriggled out of it via track controls in Ableton but had to turn the DT off and on to get it back

Any proposed solutions or has anyone experienced this?

Issue 2: Unfixable Latency
Even with the External Instrument device on my track in Ableton, playing with latency speeds, I just can’t get the DN to completely lock in time with Ableton. Is this why people opt for a separate midi clock control device and use that as their clock master? Could you please advise on what you do in this situation?

Thanks for all your help. In an ideal world the Digitone would be the centre of my performance universe but I’ve been making this music for 5-6 years and still require a DAW, so I’m hoping I can still incorporate it.

Issue 1: Thats the issue I had several times with the Digitakt! Sold it and got the Digitone. Not one freeze till now. I don’t know why, it seems to be different from unit to unit, but if you can I would send the Digitone back.

Issue 2: External Instruments in Ableton always cause higher latency. Use tracks instead. And use negative clock delay if Ableton is the Master. The downside here, the Digitones internal Sounds are not in time anymore. Midi is quiet slow and there is always some Jitter. It’s never 100% again. The only Hardware Sequencer I got a really tight timing is Arturias Spark LE as a plugin.
