Digitone - Model:Samples

Sequencing/composing with Digitone & Model Samples together, one should be able to send to each other, Program Changes to change patterns, hence creating a “pattern chain/song mode” for a Project as long as both units are creating the “song” with the same simultaneous pattern structure, correct? These pattern chain Program Changes should remain in each units MIDI data/Project data even at shut down, correct?

Correct so long as you enter the patter chain to the master. Slave will follow.

Incorrect. Pattern chains are not saved. Programme changes are not saved. Only sent as a message by master, recieved by slave.

what i meant is if both units are sending program changes to each other (as MIDI data embed in sequencer track) that have been sequenced in designated MIDI tracks, both units must be able to receive those program changes, hence creating in effect “saveable pattern chains” (am i making sense, thank you)

and both the Digitone and Model Samples would have to able to filter out all other MIDI data except for those program changes, i guess i’m thinking of Roland MIDI sequencer gear, they can do that, thanks

If you mean sending program changes via parameter locks, the Digitone can do this but the M:S can’t. Both machines send program changes on pattern change though, so maybe you could program the changes on the Digitone, have the M:S pick them up, and use a MIDI cable connected back to the Digitone to send only program changes back (with everything else disabled).

thanks, both manuals state they can send and receive program pattern change, I’m thinking sending Pattern Program Changes from Digitone to the Model:Samples and those would get immediately sent back at the Digitone via the M:S’s MIDI out/thru? You know, similar concept to those YouTube Digitakt videos where MIDI cable goes from Digitakt’s MIDI out directly to it’s MIDI in, sending those pattern Program changes and hence creating a saveable pattern change or “song mode”.

Yep, it’s worth a try! Using the M:S output as a thru is probably your best bet.
