Dilla Drums / Drunken drummer on Digitakt

Hi,

I’m new to the Digitakt and I’m struggling to get my drums sounding / placed how I’d like them.

I’d really like to be able to place my drums in the sequence and use the micro-timing, quantize etc to achieve the swing I’m after.

Here’s a video showing what I’m trying to achieve (but using a daw)

Can anyone help with any tips.
Many thanks in advance

Sounds like basic functionality of the DT. Did you watch a few of the thousands of tutorials out there? I liked the one of Cuckoo.

You could try and play the drums in live, unquantised and then shift them around using the micro-timing. Or else just place some of the hits on certain steps on the grid and play the snares or hats live.

Another good article about the subject :

Also I once listed all the possible swings using micro-timing. Here it is :

Septuplet groove microtiming offsets:

Step 1: (0)
Step 2: (+17/384)
Step 3: (+7/384)
Step 4: (+5/192)

Repeat those 4 values for steps 5, 6, 7 & 8 etc.

Example:

tip: it’s a lot easier to use just 1 track and p-lock the samples per step than it is to try this across multiple tracks.

Thank you all
That’s exactly the sort of help I was hoping for.
I can’t wait to try this out.
Have a great music making weekend:sparkles: :v::sparkles:
