DN Multimap is insane

I’ve just discovered it. I have a DT which is controlling DN as a drum machine while DN sequencer is simultaneously trigging away as usual! This is insane

If you map some parameters of each of the multi map sounds to velocity you can also edit the sounds as they play!? Does this also work with AT and PB etc? It doesn’t seem to but even if it doesn’t … this is insane

Freeing up the DN sequencer for more melodic stuff with the DT triggering DN drum sounds has just revitalized the idea that you could get by with just these 2 instruments and maybe some external midi knobs and/or a looper to help transitions etc

Thanks elektron!

I haven’t explored that yet but this sounds really good, reading about your experience!

I’d assume that you could p-lock aftertouch or breath control on the.Digitakt and the Digitone sounds would react to it, if they are setup to modulate the sound, non?

I’m not 100%. I thought it would but I cudnt get it to work properly. I’m thinking it might not work because of how you have to set the multimap track to one of the DN tracks. Midi can handle velocity per note but not aftertouch per note etc. So I’m thinking we only get velocty as we are essentially sending a note mesage that DN reads and plays the corresponding sound. But even still. Theres 4 options to modulate with velocty and that sounds already great!!! I miss this from the digktakt now hahaa!

Ah yes of course, I didn’t think about that, per note… how about Mod Wheel, this should work per sound right?

I cudnt get that one either :frowning: I think just velocity as thats the only thing midi 1.0 has per note. No PB no AT etc.
you can still use these on the DN tracks of course! But just not for the multimap sounds. At least that’s how it seems but I’d love for someone to figure out if its possible!

It wud be really cool if there was an easier way to edit sounds in the pool though. Theres a lot of export import etc to load a sound from pool. Edit and the overwrite the sound back to pool if you ever want to edit the sound. I guess the idea is you have a bunch of pre-made sounds good to go and just trigger them in a live setting and not meant to edit them too much

Yes Multi Map is great, also implemented in the A4.

You can assign and save all mods to sounds (PB/AT/MW/BC/Velocity) and load them in the soundpool. Arp settings are also saved.

You can also control mods with DN alone, with midi loopback.

How about two sets of DT + DN, one set on each side of a DJ mixer?

Haha! @DaveMech style

I imagine the non note specific things like MW and AT apply to the entire channel though rather than each sound separately? So if I play a kick and snare at same time but only have AT on snare, it will also apply AT to the kick?
And anything else on the track that the multimap is playing through?

wow, ya, that! Ha! What a cool video - thanks for sharing it.

Mods don’t seem to work with MultiMap channel but with track or auto channel.
Mods are applied on all sounds (MultiMap, soundlocks, default track sound), results depend on mods settings
