Does anyone care about Erasure?!

Are they too joy inducing for our cynical times or what?

I do not care about Erasure.

Topic title made me laugh. I care about Erasure.

If you think it’s bad now imagine what it was like saying you liked synthpop in the edge-filled 90s! Erasure must’ve been a strong contender for the least cool band to admit to enjoying when I was at school.

I adore erasure.

Best gig I’ve ever been to.

I used to throw em into my jungle dj mixes back in the day. sound amazing with some slamming breakbeats over the top…

They were my sisters favorite band when I was a kid so I have a soft spot for them.

gonna have to say yes, there. I have a cassette of just whatever was playing on the radio around 93-94 and Erasure’s “Always” was on there. So I love that one.

More than Erasure’s music, I love Vince Clarke’s command over the perception of his own sexuality…I mean, he’s got a wife, but, y’know, always had that “thing” about him that 80s synth pop guys did so well. :star_struck:

I love their stuff since the first album. Saw them live as well a long time ago.

And listening to the “best of” or Apple’s “Essentials” it’s like with the Pet Shop Boys, a big smile on my face for hours cause the sound and songs just are so positive and moving.

Thanks for reminding me, I know what I am going to listen to tonight!!

I really like their “A little respect”

I still listen to them regularly as they’re one of my wife’s faves… from a production and songwriting standpoint they’ve done some incredible work. The tightness of the all-cv sequencing and overall sound design on tracks like this are still just as impressive today.

Some dope “studio footage” in this ridiculous but endearing video:

I was a musical journalist once upon a time and I made an interview with Vince Clarke… Although I don’t care much about Erasure…

a lot when i was in HS/college. but then i went to a rave my last semester . . .

Definitely part of my musical socialisation and while I don’t deliberately listen to the music anymore, I still appreciate the significance they must have had, especially for marginalised groups, back then. So, I have to say yes, I care.

I care, one of my favourite bands late 80’s to early 90’s, wonderland, the circus, 2 ring circus, the innocents, wild & chorus are all great albums.

Came here to rant about wokeness and you are all talking about some old band

Love Yazoo and a couple of the Erasure albums. Just saw this topic after coming back from the pizza place - listening to Chorus in the car

I went to go see them in concert back in 1997. We scored tickets for face value from a scalper. We were ecstatic! We actually managed to get close to the front of the stage. 2 songs later Andy Bell said “Thank you Toronto!” and the concert was over. We had no idea we were that late. Groan.

So yes, I like Erasure. Vince Clarke is a synth god.
