Hi,
I`m collecting statistics about latest units of Model:Samples.
Is there still a problem with pads and buttons? (stucking and coming off)
How soon it appears after intense use?
Are there any simple solutions to solve it?

I didn’t know the M:S was fragile. Is it the same about M:C?
I assume the hardware is the same, and I have been lugging my cycles around in a backpack with no lid and bashing it pretty good since 2020 and it is a little dirty, but no worse for the wear functionally.
This was addressed by Elektron early on, they sent free replacement button sheets to anyone with the FUNC button issue. Newer production models (and the Model:Cycles) don’t have this issue.
I bought my Model:Cycles on release and I’m actually very impressed with the quality of the hardware. I use it extensively and also take it with me to festivals and all kinds of places and never had any issue with it!
Had one of the first Model Samples, a handfull of buttons came off.
Sent it back to Elektron, they replaced it and now everything is fine.
I was about to say the same thing
your profile pic always makes me think your messages are negative, then I read em and go “oh that’s actually quite positive” [I may have mentioned this before, forgive me. it cracks me up tho]
in other news - my model samples buttons are as tough as old boots. sturdy af. they ain’t falling out any time soon.
The first batch of Model:Samples had button issues. I returned it and got a new one with no issues at all.
You have a weird hobby.
I think about the purchace.
Haha it’s from the Syntakt release time when the forum was down and everybody (including me) was constantly refreshing
And about Syntakt and the solidity of my Model:Cycles, I actually thought that if I were to order a Syntakt one day, I would still keep my M:C to “throw it in my backpack” as someone mentioned.
haha oh yeh I remember that. good times
I have the cycle and the sample.
I would say that it’s the only device with the Electribe e2 that I would not be afraid to put in my bag pack. Just with a t-shirt around them but not more.
No button issue, and most of the encoder don’t have the click, which make them really solid.
Don’t worry about build quality. They look to be made for lasting long on the hardware side.
Back in autumn of 2020 the function button came off of my M:S. Emailed sweetwater, they put me in touch with elektron customer support, shipped it out and got it replaced. Haven’t had any issues with either Model box otherwise, they’re awfully sturdy for as light and medical-equipment-plastic as they are
Mine is all good, except that the button/knob labels have been fading quite a bit.
Yes, fade out on the gray text (2nd line, func button/secondary action) on my 18 month old m:c is irritating now that I’ve noticed it by comparison with the newer m:s. Not really a problem in practice though.
Mine gets banged about quite a bit around the house, with no notable issues.
Constantly unplugging from both DC jacks, micro-usb (a standard known for fragility), and yet still chugging away.
Let’s just say that if I were selling it, I wouldn’t have to drop the price due to condition.
Lots of the labels have faded on mine. I also rubbed some off when I tried cleaning it with rubbing alcohol. So I just made my own labels with a Sharpie. Now it’s really mine!
Oh yeah, it’s extremely fragile. You barely look at it and boom, it sounds good…
Fragile, the Models? Is that a joke?
