Dreadbox Typhon

Sounds really good, and $380 with all those features is a sweet price.

Apparently Dreadbox sent this out on 9 July:

“Even though Typhon was destined to be delivered on the 20th of July, we managed to finish the product earlier and we decided to send it to you.
Please note that some features will be updated on 20th-21st of July, so please keep an eye on for a firmware update at that time.
Here is a short list of what the update will manage:
– Midi out activation
– Sequencer record enable
– Sequencer transpose enable
– Minor bug fixes
– Computer software to manage presets v1.0 release
– Velocity handling improved”

MIDI out is definitely not working, and I’ve not been able to sync incoming MIDI either, which is a shame.

The only thing that’s missing is a Comic Sans Font.

Anyone have an opinion on how this compares to the minitaur for bass / richness of sound? I’ve got space for one more synth and I’m considering the minitaur / sirin for some fairly simple bass sounds but the Typhon seems to offer a lot more for the money so I’d ideally pick this over the Minitaur if it can compare in sound.

couldn’t help myself,
liking that rich erebus osc sound for a few years, so just ordered …

as much for fx knobbiness as a the synth part

Definitely - I have so many Dreadbox monosynths I don’t really need another one, but the combined sequencer and FX (+ patch storage) make the whole thing another level of fun.

Found this :

Im sold , really .

Its nice to see, when other people seem to have the same behaviour Like i do, and put carefully after Unboxing, everything back into the Box including any stickers.
Nice Vid, one can actually see the built quality. Very nice!

Its a greek synth manufacturerer. Vangelis is greek too.

Is Vangelis to be accredited with every reverberant saw wave for the rest of time?

Between V and the BOC, there simply isn’t enough oxygen in the room these days. :no_mouth:

Cheers!

Really surprise by the quality of the FX.
Almost tempted to replace my A4 with 4 instances of Typhon with Octatrack sequencer.

Nick Batt has just posted his review:

Sounds bloody great. If I was on the market for another mono, I’d buy it for sure (who am I kidding, I’ll probably get one anyway…)
