Digitakt Sketch #44 I Wish I Had A Boog (February 9th 2020)

've been eyeing them Behringer Model D lately, but until I can get one with a clear conscience, I’ve been playing around with a free plugin called Minimogue VA.

The drums an non-bass synth sounds are coming from the Digitakt, while the bass is from Minimogue VA by Voltkitchen and the piano is Akoustik Piano by native Instruments. with a free preamp plugin (Audio Damage SGA1566) and a multiband compressor (Image-Line Maximus) added in post.

Thanks for listening!

Wait a sec - you made this on the train?!

How did you power the Digitone?

Thank you very much, man! I made 2 patterns on the train, yeah . There’s power on the train, so no need for a power bank.

Digitakt Sketch #46 Comfort Zone (February 16th)

I’ve been listening to Bill Evans lately, but all my attempts at jazz turns into anime beats instead. Leaving my comfort zone is hard.

The drums and bass is coming from the Digitakt, while the piano is a plugin called Akoustik Piano by Native instruments. A free preamp plugin (Audio Damage SGA1566) and a multiband compressor (Image-Line Maximus) was added in post.

Thanks for listening!

Digitakt &Digitone #19 Factory (February 24th 2020)

It’s been a week since my last upload. I had a couple of false starts and abandoned a few projects, and I’ve also spent a lot of my music time practicing finger drumming. This track is the only thing that has survived :D. I’ve been listening to future funk and vaporwave lately and was inspired by how loud and bass heavy everything is, hence the oversaturated sound.

Drums, bass and one plingy sound is coming from the Digitakt, leads and pads are coming from the Digitone, and the Digitone is sequencing a piano plugin called Akoustik Piano by Native Instruments. A free preamp plugin (Shattered Glass Audio SGA1566) and a multiband compressor (Image-Line Maximus) was added in post.

not tried this, but can the AR mk2 do that accurate sample beat chopping with the latest update?

I haven’t used an AR mk2 before, so I can’t help you there, sorry!

Practicing finger drumming alternating hand technique (February 26th 2020)

I’ve been finger drumming a lot on the beatstep lately. I’d prefer a 4x4 controller, but I might as well use what I have and save a bit of cash. I watched a few tutorials on finger drumming, and one technique that seemed really useful was the alternating hand technique. So I started practicing that to studio ghibli piano tracks :stuck_out_tongue:

I wanted to post a finger drumming video, but also wanted to post my own music, so I picked one of my abandoned digitone projects and played drums on top of that. This is far from the first take

Digitakt & Digitone #20 Skimming Across (March 1st 2020)

With the Model:Cycles released, I was inspired to try using the Digitone for the main drums, with an FM kick on track 12, FM clap on track 13, and FM closed hat on 14. I sequenced the drum pattern on the Digitakt instead of directly on the Digitone, because the Digitone only has 4 tracks and squeezing all the drums into 1 track takes a lot of effort. That said, I also used tracks 1, 2 and 3 in my usual chopped up lofi drum way.

Main lead, pad, bass and drums are coming From the Digitone, while extra drums and monotonous rythmic synth lines are from the Digitakt. In post I added a preamp plugin called SGA 1566 (which I might have pushed a bit hard here), and a multiband compressor.

Digitakt & Digitone #21 One Pattern Rushed Out The Door (March 10th 2020)

Sometimes I just can’t come up with any more stuff, and end up with one repetitive pattern. I decided to ignore my urge to make a b-section, because I had already abandoned a few projects due to having to make a b-section and not having the stamina for it. Instead, I forced myself to record a track that only has one pattern. Also, it’s been over a week since my last upload and I had an urge to upload something

Digitakt: drums, arp, synth melody
Digitone: lead, arp, bass
Digitone is also sequencing a plugin called Akoustik Piano.
Recorded everything to a stereo track in FL Studio and added a preamp plugin SGA 1566 and a multiband compressor Maximus to the master channel.

Max Marco Sample Pack Challenge 1 entry (March 13th 2020)

So, Max Marco uploaded a video containing a sample pack and a challenge: https://youtu.be/HsmYqv7mvl0
I only used samples from the pack itself and didn’t resample the drums into a loop, as I usually do for most of my tracks. The chaotic modulations in his samples made it really satisfying when I finally managed to rearrange them into my own style

Thanks for the challenge!

All audio is coming from the Digitakt (using only samples from the pack), though I added a preamp plugin SGA1566 and a mastering plugin Maximus in post.

Digitakt Sketch #47 Return Trip 2 (March 17th 2020)

It’s been a while since I’ve used my favorite FM plugin, Toxic Biohazard. The main arp and bass pad on tracks 10 and 11 are made using Toxic Biohazard and its built in FX. The rest is coming from the Digitakt (drums, 16th note bassline, synth pads, piano). I added a preamp plugin SGA1566 and a mastering plugin Maximus in post.

Stay safe, everyone!
