Someone have both ?
Pro/cons ?
I have both. Digitone sounds better, is fully editable from the instrument itself, better multitimbrality, and infinitely better sequencer. No contest really
what is the most “harsher” “noisy”?
Either is capable of it, but it’s just a lot faster to create sounds on the DN because you don’t need to have it hooked up to a computer and editor
I think the dx200 could get uglier but I second the notion that if one had the option the digitone is the better choice. It extremely impractical to edit sounds on, ive owned two dx200s and sold both the digitone is what i always wanted the dx200 to be
Did not rate the DX200 when I had one, none of the grunginess of the DX100, the editing was a PITA and I didn’t like the sequencer either. My Digitone should be here in the week, I expect that I will like it much more than the DX200 FWIW.
Maybe I have rose coloured glasses, but the Digitone is probably one of the best sounding FM devices, maybe even best sounding synths I’ve ever owned.
Best new synth I’ve had in years. Totally agree!
Well my Digitone arrived today, by far the best FM synth that I’ve used (and that is quite a few in 30 years!) and so far I have only had it for an hour, but making sounds is really easy if you are familiar with FM.
Great job @Ess and team @Elektron 10/10 (once portamento arrives )
I couldn’t agree more with this.
yeah, +1 here. Forget the DX200…it’s, for all intents and purposes, obsolesced by the DN.
Yes, it is technically 6-op, but DN is so much more creative and accessible. If you have a way to get one cheap, maybe get it in addition. Or try out a Volca FM to see if 6-op is absolutely necessary for you. I have a TX802 for the 6-op stuff, but I’m not super interested in parameter locking it
