Elektron Overbridge 1.10 Review

Yep.
Great! Will save my ageing eyes some squinting then. :)
I think the “OverScreen” update should be next, pull a larger screen out from a Prophet12 or any of the Modals and jam it in there somehow.
(Sounds like a great Overbridge update btw)

This update is fabulous. I see tons of potential uses for all the new features they provide.

One thing about OB integration with AR :

If total recall works in such a way that you can share a project with a friend, then that means that samples can be loaded into the AR from OB itself right ? We are not limited to the samples which are loaded in the project prior to using total recall?

In that case, this means that they have all the building blocks to allow for sample management directly from OB. We might kiss C6 goodbye very soon!

Ive never been so anxious for an OS update.
Hurry the F up Elektron.

This should be a sticky.

The samples are still from the +Drive so no goodbye for C6…

If the samples are from the +Drive, how can you share a project with someone that has the same machine as you, and expect him to get the same sound ?

Cenk was mentioning that in the beginning of the video.

Great point. I hope you’re right on how it paves the way for further development.
OB sample transfer will be the single biggest workflow boost for Rytm+DAW.

Samples on the +Drive are in no man’s land - to be used, they need to be in the size limited pool surely - in which case 64mb or whatever of samples being packaged up is not entirely out of the question - otherwise it’s just references and a world of pain !

Maybe I’m wrong and my impression was that Analog Rytm sample management would be in a later version of Overbridge.

Pretty sure this won’t be the fully fledged sample upload functionality.

It is kinda conceivable that there’s some kind of implementation where the plugin can store samples and transmit them back to the Rytm’s current kit. Would’ve thought that kind of feature would be unlikely in the extreme, but it’d be weird that the Elektron guys would say that you could send a project and it would open on someone else’s Rytm … I seem to remember that they’ve been pretty careful in previous interviews to correct any misunderstandings.

My guess is if their vst technology allows SDS to be sent back to the AR (which seems a very reasonable thing to add to the current midi stream), then they’ll have some souped-up plans for a sample manager and potentially chopper in the vst … and would have mentioned such a major feature in the video if that’s coming in this release. Who knows what might be in 1.2 though…

“Sample management” in OB, as Elektron describes it, already exists.
Sample transfer via OB (not C6) is a completely different feature.

I think that’s exactly what he’s doing in the video
It’s not - and it’s not what cenk said to camera - he is clearly not muting tracks, there is an option to play on fill and no-play on fill, the action is on track trigs not track mutes - he’s hiding individual trigs during fill whilst revealing some elsewhere !
I know, but in the first post in this post it states:

Overbridge 1.10 news:

 • Automatable track mutes for Elektron sequencer

So if its automatable in overbridge its not illogical to think it will be in the OS aswell, i hope at least

so any enlightment by a Elektron employee on this would be appreciated

I wonder when the update will drop and release us from this strange speculative limbo.

NAMM? (This Thursday)
That’s my guess.

Thanks electron I’ve owned the a4 since the first release, one of my first synths and it just get better this update is as just as cool a when my mono synth turned all polly on me over night, it’s great to see and hear how its develope, nothing that I have bought ( many synths) since has lived up to my a4 and electrons support keep doing what your doing

Could you explain why that is totally different? In earlier presentations of Overbridge it has been spoken to implement a better way of sending samples to the Analog Rytm.

The OP is wrong. A DAW could automate mutes before Ob anyway, or do it in song mode too. This is definitely not a new feature, despite what is heard in the video, as i said, it is trig fill-mutes, not track mutes. 100% correct :+1:

Why don’t they release the current 1.10 to public beta?

I’m actually more pissed they release the sonic state review/announcement/demo and not the A4/AR OS updates. :frowning:
