eh ?
.
you can’t work out any reasons why an OS cannot be released, critical bugs etc. ! the device OSs are explicitly tied to the OB version
.
plus - they’re entitled to as much NAMM PR as the next man - maybe they want a slice of the sales, 1.10 can’t be that far off if they drop the already delayed video !
.
why do these threads always end up this way - there is zero point - it will come when they want to release it and there could be many factors determining that - hacking-off forum members is not part of that roll-out timetable - they can’t win … they say too little, they say it too early !!
.
at least you know what’s coming, and that something will - I don’t get this need people have to turn something good into something negative
.
the video is from the start of December - yet they explained they missed the release before christmas - you don’t need to be a detective to work out that there are therefore still issues to resolve - should they diminish their reputation by releasing this early !?
.
excited/impatient/frustrated is all cool, but get some perspective - it’s late, some quote staff saying the end of the month - stories from Namm will probably set this straight
“Sample management” in OB, as Elektron describes it, already exists.
Sample transfer via OB (not C6) is a completely different feature.
Could you explain why that is totally different? In earlier presentations of Overbridge it has been spoken to implement a better way of sending samples to the Analog Rytm.
Yea, I remember those earlier mentions as well.
Elektron deems “sample management” as how you organize samples on the +Drive once they are already there, and via the graphic user interface that is the OB plug-in.
Where as sample transfer is the moving of samples from computer to +Drive.
When the first emails went out announcing OB 1.10 in November, I asked about the lack of mention of sample transfer with OB.
Simon said, “Not yet. Getting the basics right is essential before adding more features like that.”

Entitlement.
As far as I tried, the FM using and LFO on the A4 sounded horrible… a lot of bad artifacts. That’s one of the reason why I sold it.
^You’re really going to miss out!
Man, these analog machines just keep getting better and better!
The sequencer additions bring the AR and A4 into modular-like territory, with clock-dividers, probability, fills…
Sure, modular still offers a few advantages, but I feel like there’s some overlap.
(Sorry for the aside.)
I think we’ll be seeing the new OS released by the end of NAMM.
So you can now route DAW audio into the AR to utilize distortion, delay, reverb & p-locks. How about external audio not from a DAW?
different type of FM possible now - Linear modulation as opposed to just Exponential to get closer to the musical FM sounds and the lfo speed can follow pitch (rather than just tempo) - very different potential fwiw, but it obviously won’t be as powerful or effective as dedicated FM capable oscillators/synths
No different to before - straight to compressor - this will never change for the physical inputs
if Sample Transfer via Overbridge is asking too much, is it conceivable that one day we will be able to see the AR +drive as a folder on the computer and drag and drop files that way? Don’t some Elektron boxes do this already?
No it’s always going to be limited to midi over USB due to hardware constraints, only thing that will change is the interface.
Yes yes all good all peachy, thank you Elektron we love you, but… can someone please confirm if the QUANTIZE RETRIG feature is implemented in the update??? I did my first gig with only the AR yesterday and my rolls were fking off grid all the time, unbearable…

I was just venting… Chill, there’s a better use of your time than such a lengthy reply to my message.
Indeed, you’re right It’s an interesting cordial thread that was in danger of heading off-piste
My only issue with the late release is that OverBridge has effectively been broken since September for El Capitan users. El Capitan was on a public beta before that, so there was a lot of time to prepare a fix for soon afterwards. And OverBridge only came out shortly before that, so some of us have barely been able to work with it.
All of the other features taking longer is 100% fine. But the lack of OS release syncing is going to make OverBridge really hard to trust as an integral part of a Mac rig for the time being, even though it’s unbelievable software when it works.
Looking forward to using it again!
Just curious, what kind of problems did you/other users have with OB and El Capitan? Mine was working with no problems (maybe I didn’t give it a hard use, so I didn’t find bugs). Anyway, I had to come back to Yosemite recently for audio interface drivers problems, so I guess I’m not in a hurry for the update because of OB, I’m more interested in AR update but any OB improvement on stability is always welcome.

first reaction: whhaat!? hang on, have to watch it again…then i was like: yyeeeessss! and then the crude reality of this
well, at least doable via DAW, definitely better than nothing at all is it tomorrow already?
Basically the light in OB is green when I open the VST in Ableton initially, but goes red almost straight away and stays red. It seems to send audio just fine, because I can play on the AK itself and the audio goes into Live. But I cannot do anything with the VST. It’s been like that since the El Capitan release.
Oh man I’m really excited about the new features. Especially about the trig conditions.
Seems like the wait is almost over. When does namm start? Tomorrow or Thursday?
It officially starts on the 21st.
I think we’ll be waiting 'til after the show for a release though. Elektron don’t generally seem to like releasing software when the staff are at a show.
Song position sync!
