Erica Synths PĒRKONS HD-01

That outro jam is banging.

I genuinely can’t wait.

I mean, I’m not stupid enough to say that I won’t have sold it by then.

It’s good but is it 2k good? All relative I know but I’m not convinced.

Looks pretty fucking cool doesnt it? Love all the features.
Will I buy one? No.

No, it’s way too much money.

If my wife hadn’t just got a big old bonus I’d be nowhere near this, and I’m still having to sell a bunch of shit to get over the line. The way I see it, if I don’t gel with it, I’m probably not going to lose a fortune on it. But it’s just way too me to not get one now that I’m lucky enough to have the opportunity.

Erica Synths stuff always leans on the expensive side, but I’ve owned a lot of it over the last couple of years and, other than a bit of weak screen printing here and there, the quality and reliability is insanely good.

If you watch interviews with Girts, it’s clear that his priority is to provide high quality gear that sounds massive and is as much as possible made in Latvia. All that comes at a premium I guess, but yeah, it stings a bit paying £1700 for a four voice drum synth.

Still £300 cheaper than an OP-1 tho…

Mate of mine has a sax that cost him 9 grand. Second hand.

Imagine all the Erica Synths he could have bought, he’s already got a bunch of saxophones.

Yeah, acoustic instruments are savage.

Excellent point. People pay a FORTUNE for instruments - violins, celllos, drumkits, brass, woodwind… £1k is the entry cost to a ‘professional’ guitar alone, and they’re all so formulaic. Who needs another Strat or Les Paul? The Fender Johnny Marr Jaguar is £2k. Gibson have a Les Paul Modern for over £2k and a Custom Shop Theodore for over £4k. You’d think the second hand market would dissuade these companies from making the same thing over and over again but apparently it doesn’t make a difference. At least Erica are doing new and interesting stuff.

Hahaha! That’s a really good point. And that thing looks like a plastic toy. I know it’s a capable instrument, but I can’t really get over the look (or price)

I’ve played so many guitars worth well over $2k, so I don’t think a $2k drum machine is that insane. Also, with the rising inflation around the world, $2k isn’t even going to be that much money anymore

What I don’t think I can do that easily is patiently wait for the pre-order! I might get one when they’re more easily purchased

The PERKONS seems like the perfect pairing for the Digitone’s 4 MIDI tracks :drooling_face: Really tempted to start saving up for one.

But isn’t the sequencer on the perkons the main reason for buying it?

Midi lfo’s though

How much is DFAM again? Around £600 I think. 4 x DFAM = £2400. So this is a bargain, really. That’s how I would look at it.

If I ever rebuild my rig, this is definitely a contender

Clarification feels nice.

Two months to go for me (I hope)…

Do you think retailers are in on that first batch? I ordered mine on May 10 from Perfect Circuit in the U.S.

Yes, I think they are.

I spoke to the UK retailer I got mine from and they said end of summer, and I ordered on 14th June.

I must commend the presenter (Leo I think).

No antics, no faffing about trying to get it to do something he wants to show. I like his straightforward presentation style, he clearly knows the instrument well and must’ve done a fair amount of preparation to make everything flow so well. Good job!

And I agree the jam at the end was :fire:

This might be the drum machine i always waited for. Looking around my room for things to sell. Damn! Must resist the gas. But this one makes it very freakin hard.

The demo sounds quite samey! And in the end of the day it’s the sound for me. Like the design and features but the sound is not my cup of tea at all at this moment. Time and more demos will tell

It certainly has a very specific sound. What you hear in the demos is basically how it sounds. I love it
