Erica Synths PĒRKONS HD-01

Every time, I really love that sounds. But I have to sell every gear I own to make it fit in my budget and I don’t want to do it. I think that maybe the LXR02 is the less rich man’s Pērkons? I have to listen back to demo.
Damn, I love this sounds though. Maybe I should sell the OT, PT and a few other gear to get one and some pedals for effects. 🫣 or stick to the plan of swapping the PT for a DT and add an LXR02…:woman_shrugging:

Maybe it is just because is the first I feel like connected to a specific piece of gear for whatever reason.

I’ve just put my name on my local store list.

Tell what? You don’t have to like it, you don’t have to want it.

I think it’s cool, but I don’t want one. Sure if I had pots of cash and space for it, I’d think about it, but I’m happy with what I have.

It’s like the syntakt! I didn’t like itafter the few first demos. But then after i have heard the more techno stuff my GAS level was reaching its peak so I bought one  and I am totally happy . What I really like About the perkons is the sequencer Lay-out and the knob per function approach

I have lxr mk1, it is not perkons. Not in sound and not in UI.

Aaaaand… Back to reality, oops there goes gravity :broken_heart:

It’s a tough one, because there really doesn’t seem to be anything else like it. Sure, you could build something similar with Eurorack, but good luck keeping that below 2 grand.

Having said that, I don’t think it’s something you should even consider selling most of your gear for. It’s a pretty singular bit of gear, which means it might get boring pretty quickly if it’s all you’ve got. Also, Perkons + Octatrack seems like an ideal team.

Besides, it’ll probably be Christmas before the next batch is in the shops, you’ve got plenty of time to save up.

Probably not for me, but no question that I think this is one of the best drum machine designs I have ever seen. 4 rows of 16 steps is manageable live and with the various play modes tons of mileage to be had.

The WYSIWYG aspect is really cool, not many drum machines have such an overview.

Price seems fine for what you get.

Love the colour, and the step switches.

If they did a sampler one with analog filter and env/vca for each voice I’d find it very hard to resist.

Every demo I watch makes me GAS for it harder, fortunately it’s just a bit too expensive for me to consider - but it’s mighty tempting. I wouldn’t do it justice anyway it needs more industrial hands.

What I’ve been impressed with the most is that I’ve not really seen it used as a drum machine so much as a groovebox. It’s a totally capable solo machine that would be great for performance.

I am extremely close to preordering this. I’ve backed down at the last moment twice or three times already- it’s a lot of money and I definitely don’t need it, so it makes me feel bad to think I’d spend so much money on this. I don’t even like techno!

But - there is something that keeps drawing me towards this thing. I just don’t know what, but I keep thinking about it several times a day. I’m probably getting it

Sell some gear and buy it, if it’s keeping you awake, voyage of discovery….techno ain’t so bad , maybe you learn to like it…choice is yours man, else forgot and spend £2k on something else ?

[edit] if you like the sound , buy it…scratch the itch

Just buy and try it, you can always sell or return it anyway. I learn a lot of things by trying new instruments. Take advantage of your GAS

Apparently all pre-orders are already sold out so you’re in for a very long wait (October at least) unless you can buy a used one from somebody after the initial buzz has subsided.

Yeah, the longer you linger, the longer you’ll wait.

I know, it’s gonna be a long wait anyway. And yes I’m selling a couple of things I wanted to get rid of anyway, so it won’t be that much of a hit to my finances, really…but still it would be the second most expensive instrument I’ve ever bought and that scares me a little hahaha.

Thanks for the advice, will sleep on it and maybe tomorrow I’ll move on it if I feel adventurous enough!

I can’t wait to give one these a rip. Looks like a lot of fun.

Maybe start with a DFAM and see if you can work that into your tracks. I am not saying the Perkons is a DFAM, but it’s also a techno machine that is a blast to record or play live.

I think it could be used for non-techno music very well actually. I could see it fitting in a lot of genres, especially if you have other gear. I know it has a sound that is very suitable for techno, but one of the things that got me interested in it was the FX sends. You can totally transform that sound into something else. Especially if you’re, say, a former guitarist who has a duffle bag full of guitar pedals

I’ve also considered pre-ordering it, but I’m telling myself I don’t have the space. That’s what I’m going with for now.

Oh I’m actually selling my DFAM to fund this :joy:. Love it but don’t have the patience for patching, I need to be able to recall my sounds and patterns - it’s been sitting in a drawer for months now so I’d rather give it to someone that will use it.

Do we know if there is a limit on simultaneous lfo destinations?
Would be interesting to activate all 32 at once! With the parameter recording… Kerplunk!
