Thank you, I was using a manual from google cache which was an older version without the firmware section.
Which keys are the four voice trigger keys? Can’t find that definition in the manual when searching.

This was specifically about showing multiple lanes simultaneously - it we open up to all the sequencers then the world is our (eurorack) oyster
I’m assuming it’s the four vertical keys to the right of the four sequencer lanes
Yes
You could use an Oxi Oxe with a Vermona Drm1. But that’s two machines of course.
ooh sorry… i thought it was about Euro triggers for PErkons… my bad
If it was a toss up between ARmk2 and The Perkons, I’d pick the Perkons everytime.
I had an AR mk1, then Mk2. Didnt get on with either of them. Way too fiddly for a drum machine.
Its fine if you dont think its cool. You dont have to.
Im not going to get a Perkons, because I already have a drum machine I like, and Id rather play that than buy more shit.
I really think its the knob per function appeal with no menus. You just cant beat it(excuse lame pun).
Yeah this is the reason.
You are up and running in 2 minutes, where on the AR it was, at least for me, more of a learning process. Actually still learning the AR!
The Perkons is very instant beat, cool sequencer and knobs and switches to turn, flick and record. The sound palate might be closer/smaller but what it does it does very good.
Rytm is deeper and I really learned to love it, even the analog sounds. Well it´s an Elektron machine so it´s gonna take some time and effort and I still finding new tricks, just like on the OT.
I´m very lucky that I can afford to keep both, but haven´t made up my mind if I will.
Cons on the Perkons:
Feels light, as in not so heavy, which is kind of an odd con but I think it´s down to the Power Adapter. Just feels a little cheapish on a 2000€ drum machine.
And the “wood” side panel is not to my liking. If I keep it I´ll take them off for sure.
Pro: Sounds really good
Fun to play and I´m not really thinking when jamming, just enjoying the moment.
finally got mine yesterday, haven’t had much time to play with it yet but i’m loving the feel of it so far. here’s an excerpt from a quick jam. gonna try to get some calmer, less peaktime sounds out of it today
Much earlier in the thread, Dataline compared it to the AR:
I have a RYTM and love it. I’d never replace it with a Perkons. The RYTM has a lot more versatility. To me the Perkons is something I’d have in addition to the Rytm. Either to use together or separately for a different flavor.
why do people have the constant urge to shit on other peoples choice´s… if someone prefers a Perkons to a Rytm what´s that to them? did Perkons insult your parents? i dont get it…
Let the people have Perkons…
Edit: not targeted at someone specific, just an observation regarding “gear shaming” (yes i just coined that term, patent pending)
I personally don’t really like the sound character of the Perkon. That’s why I’ll probably never order one, but I totally understand the appeal of the device! Of course, having so many buttons right in front of your face, ready to be turned and explored, leads to completely different results than having to dive around in menus. such comparisons (Perkons vs. rytm) are not very helpful… To be honest, I was quite amazed that this type of sequencer did not exist before and I believe that it is a lot of fun to play. Unfortunately, as I said, I don’t like the sound, otherwise Perkons and Perfourmer would be a dream setup!
Yeah, I guess they can be compared only because they’re both drum machines. It’s easier to compare the Perkons to the AR than it is to compare a toaster to the AR, but when it comes down to it, they’re different animals.
While I agree and think it’s fairly obvious how different the Perkons and Rytm are, I can imagine some sort of decision tree might be useful to someone who is new to making beats, or has been working entirely in the box.
Consider a decision tree something like this:
This is a quick and imperfect list, but it shows a way that someone who is drawn to the look of the Perkons but really just needs a LXR-02 or a Drumbrute Impact could find their way to the right machine. MPCs are missing, as are both the classic and Boutique x0x machines. So are the classic drum samplers and drum romplers.
Interesting because it looks heavy in the images. Wonder how it compares in weight to other drum machines? Maybe theres less inside than other boxes.
Personally, I was just talking to different the 2 items are imo. I would prefer to have both, and that is my plan down the road.
I didn’t see anyone here “gear shaming” anybody honestly. I think people are trying to figure out if they want to invest in this machine or not as the gear slowly trickles into peoples hands,.
Reading further backi think i might have misread some posts…
