When switching patterns either using the onboard switches or with midi program changes, the associated kit’s external input settings only take effect once you trigger (play) an oscillator, until then, the previous’ kit’s settings are used. Shouldn’t they take effect instantly ?
Here’s an example :
I set my patterns like this
A01=kit1
A02=kit2
A03=kit3 and so on…
Let’s say A09 has reverb + delay + chorus on external input.
A10 has nothing, just full on volume external input.
you have sounds playing through the ext input on pattern A09 (kit9), you switch to pattern A10 (kit10)… the sound going through external input still has reverb + delay + chorus, but once you play a note triggering an oscillator, those new settings (kit10) take effect and the sound going through the ext in doesn’t have effects anymore.
Tracks to go into action needs an action, so a trigger.
[sidenote:I think this behavior is similar to OT when switching patterns]
Also you might check if RELOAD ON CHANGE option is checked or not.
If not checked the patterns switching will not reload the kit associated at the saved state.
Keep in mind that this option will NOT retain changes you did after the last saving of the kit…so, please, be aware of this.
Anyway: i don’t think this is a bug, but a feature, since it allows you to have smoother switchings without, say, interrupting abruptly the reverb tail…until you actually need it to be cut (so put a trigger on step 1, or whichever)
Thanks for pointing that out, I have the exact same issue every time I want to connect something to the A4 inputs. Except I didn’t need so trigger an osc, but touch both input levels on the FX track to trigger it after changing patterns…
Very annoying, since then I switched to the Octatrack for the FX of external sources but it’d be nice if the bug was solved
