External L/R tracks in OB

Hi
I’m trying to set up 2 tracks for the External audio just like Dataline shows in his youtube video

I have set up my Ableton exactly as show in the video. However, my external gear is only heard from the EFX tracks, not their individual ones. I even used the utility just as he demonstrated so I can split the L and R to their own individual channel, however I only get audio to the EFX/Main bus.

PLEASE SOMEONE tell me what I may have missed. I watched the video 10x and step by step did what he said. However, his ext gear is going to their respective channels not the main…

i had the EXT L/R Mutied in the control panel

BUT BUT!!! WHY ARE THE INPUTS from ext sooo soft??? I had to add a lot of gain from the utility just to hear them, all ext gear is MAX on VOL
any idea???
