What are your tips for some good tom sounds? Experimented but didn’t got to the point.
basically an analog tom is a sine or tri wave with a positive pitch modulation, use a lfo with a EXPonantial wave and trigger mode one , slow speed mult adjust to your taste and voila! very close to a kick drum but higher frequency

For fm use same recipe but take an operator With short enveloppe to modulate the carrier to simulate the attack, the percussive noise .
