I would suggest an Octatrack. I got mine because I wanted a looping and live sampling device with abilities to have free running loops (before that, I was making music with two cassettes desks). You can also do sort of granular, extreme time stretching, audio feedback, live looping, etc… To have something more “handy”, I added midi controller (en Evolution UC 33) to have controls over track levels, pitch, rate (with faders & knobs) and manual sampling with buttons.
