Thanks
I’ve just purchased the app to test it on the iPad. It’s a lot of work ! I’m not totally convinced by the ‘full random approach’, but maybe have I not totally understood the app, I’ll have to make my homework in the next days. I really miss a screen mirroring the sequencer. The arp generator is great, but is there a way to have more control on it ? Those two points (arp + sequencer editor) could be a game changer on the Mac. I understand you don’t want to invest too much time on something which is already covered by OB, but editing the arp and the sequencer could really complement OB, without involving too much work.
It’s not fully random. If you hit Pad, for example, on the main View Mode, you will randomize the Track Sound so it resembles a Pad (long attack, release, etc). Each Sound Type has its own set of Parameter ranges. You may have to hit Pad 2-3 times to get something you like…even though I use intelligent / curated randomization, I leave enough wiggle room so you can encounter happy accidents.
The only thing that uses absolute randomization is the Chaos Sound Type. All other functions are curated as much as possible to be musical…again, I don’t want to constrain things too much as then you leave out regions in the Parameter Space which may be weird, but could also be useful.
I could add more Arp settings, but I don’t want to get too involved, since at that point you might as well just design the Arp on the device. Right now, the arp will generate random notes in the chosen Key / Scale if you have Arp In Key enabled, or it will generate random offsets between -15 and 15 (not too high or low).
p.s. there is nothing quite similar if at all for digitakt I assume…
Nah, I don’t own one. I was waiting for the MK2 version : ]

In the App Store it says Digitone firmware must be 1.30. Is it working with 1.31?
Yep, there were no functional changes from 1.30 to 1.31
Awesome. Thanks!
Would this work on a mac mini m1 with Big Sur ?
Supposedly IOS apps can be used but i haven’t tried myself
No, they need to be explicitly ported by the developer and I haven’t look into the process yet
Ok good to know.
so this method described here wouldn’t work?
I hadn’t heard of that, but the app’s UI is hardcoded to detect different iPad sizes, so you may run into issues with the UI being a mess / unusable :[
Update 5.4:
- Improved Pad & Drone Sound Types
- Improved Randomization
- Added “Mod Dynamics” function to the Custom Sound Type creator
- Bug Fixes
hi, just bought Harmonix recently and tried it out.
I’m trying to connect DT thru usb hub to the +iCA4 (hub port) and it doesn’t seem to send nor receive on the DT. Using midi works only 1 way, from DT to ipad but not the other way. Well at least except of the big buttons TRG, Syn 1, etc but not the smaller ones pads, organs, etc.
Connecting directly thru the CCK works fine, bidirectional.
Does anyone have the similar setup and have it working for them?
btw it’s a really nice app @mekohler, make nice accidental sounds. But honestly I’m a little lost at it, is there any tutorials or a manual?
The App relies heavily on sysex. Some MIDI interfaces have problems sending / receiving large sysex…I personally use the CCK, Direct Connection, and over WIFI through my iMac with no issues.
The help menu is in the upper right corner (? button)
ah ic. ok maybe I’ll write in iconnectivity forum to see if they can fix this.
ok. I’ll play more with it and post when got any questions. Thanks
@mekohler i was wondering if you own a Blofeld? It be really cool if you do and have an intent to make a controller app for this!
is there a manual or a Video to show how to setup the App ? i cant get it to work
Upper Right ? button is the Help Menu and describes the required hardware settings…how are you connecting the hardware and iPad? Did you select your MIDI Ports using the upper left MIDI menu?
