Harmonix - Digitone iOS App

I only have an iphone, no ipad. Does it make sense on the small screen? I don’t like to spend 10 bucks and then realize, that I miss the device to really work with it.

Perfect for crafting sounds out of it, Higly recommended and to play with some of the generated sequences.

No iPhone version, but it would be cool if there was one.

Like others said, the iPhone screen size is too small. I experimented in the past with making compact versions, but it wasn’t to my liking.

Ah, Good to know, that’s why I asked. Nice move to see that and don’t just take the money! Well, at the end it saved time too, not having to check everything on 4 more screensizes

Harmonix = awesome, super useful to systematically randomize and modify kits! Finally had the patience to set it up, totally worth it.

Small suggestions if you need inspiration:

  • intensity slider for morph/randomize,
  • modify the 2 LFO‘s interchangeably, press flt. LFO -> 1, flt. LFO again -> 2, drunk -> 1, …

Keep it up :+1:

  • Morph intensity could be added
  • I think that would get confusing for users…what I do when I just want to affect a certain LFO page is toggle PAGE in the Parameter Sliders view, and Hold down a LFO parameter…this will Lock that entire Page

Love this app. Thank you.

@mekohler, sorry this is off topic (unless you could add it to the app!) but I’m curious if you would know if something was technically feasible for the Digitone in general. One of my biggest wishes is being able to load say a kick preset, then placing a trig and adding plocks, let’s say changing the algorithm (or a whole bunch of stuff), and then being able to save the sound/parameters of that specific trig as a new preset for use another time. As far as I can tell, anything plocked like that can only be reused by copy/paste. One of the first things I tried when I got a DN was copying a trig with plocks and pasting it into the sound manager. I’m pretty sure I crashed the box attempting it, and now know that’s not a supported feature. But would you happen to know if there is any way to ‘read’ and then save the parameters of a trig? For instance, by perhaps using the track sound and the base for the new preset, but overwriting the settings for whatever the plock changed when saving the patch. Anyway, that’s my dream feature! I have no knowledge what if anything to facilitate that can be extracted from a pattern.

Sorry for the rant. Thanks again for the great app! I’ve recommended it several times!

Well, you can’t do it on the DN itself, but if I expanded my Pattern Mode / Save & Load, you could obviously save Trigs in the app, just like you can save Tracks…I hadn’t planned on doing that though. I will revisit Harmonix after I release my app for the M:S / M:C

Possible to switch and move around patterns?

No, for the DN I made the Pattern Mode mainly to create ideas, it’s pretty sparse. In the M:S / M:C app you can do much more with Patterns, just like in Collider. I will probably port the Pattern stuff from the M:S / M:C to Harmonix once I release it.

Current Pattern Mode for Harmonix:

  • Select which Tracks / Arps to affect & generate a Pattern with a certain flavor (Euclid, Electronic, Melodic, Drum)
  • Morph the Current Pattern on the DN
  • Pattern notes are filtered to your chosen Key / Scale (23 choices)

Alright. Would you be able to do it on M:C with Tensor?

You can hit GET PTN, switch to another Pattern using the M:C, then hit SEND PTN…but you can already Copy / Paste Patterns on the device itself.

I’d like to be able to move around a number of patterns between banks in an easier way. It takes a good deal of time to switch around 2 banks, for instance. But I guess that’s not really possible is it?

It’s easier to do it on the actual DN, else you will have to wait for the Pattern Sysex to transfer and be processed, which takes a few seconds. There isn’t an easy way to quickly re-arrange Banks / Slots externally.

Update:

  • Minor Bug Fixes & UI Changes

The new OS 1.30 has a different sysex layout, so you will need to wait for an update before Harmonix works properly.

Hey, thanks for the information. The app is really super good and I am looking forward to the upadte!

Thanks for the heads up, dude! @mekohler Off topic; just got an OTmk1, am I correct that I’d need to interface via 5pin and not USB for Manifold?

The OT does not support USB MIDI so my guess is yes, you’d need a 5-Pin DIN to USB adapter like a Roland UM-ONE. Just my guess though
