Has your music improved since Overbridge?

Just curious. Don’t use it myself. I know the Octatrack has actually improved the kind of stuff I can make. It’s an enabler.

Is Overbridge an enabler? Or just very convenient? Could be both, I guess.

working with OB has made things a little faster in some ways, but i wouldnt say that it improves the final product. just convenient imo

The fact that I now have 10 AR tracks to take care of instead of 2 as not made producing faster ^^
But even only for separate recordings, I feel like it’s already a very useful tool !

For me it’s convenient, as I won’t use DAW for something else than post-production.

Not the music - but the workflow has improved.

Direct USB transfer of multiple-audio-tracks from AK and AR to my DAW is a great time saver for me

+1 for the workflow and the performances.

Without Overbridge I guess I would not really understand the power of the performance and scene macros. I never touched performance macros on the A4 either!

But set things up with the plugin … another story! It´s so easy to setup and playing/ performe with it. So I guess better (live) performance will lead to “better” music … or let´s say to more interesting and changing effects within the music / sounds.

The only thing I currently use OB for is sample management. The unpredictable latency and high jitter make it sound pretty bad imo, I’ve gone back to just using the analog outs. Hoping the next update will address latency/jitter.

+1

If it were more user friendly I go back to it but I enjoy it better by itself at the moment.

I found it quite creative that you can record the fx track separately as you can get very interesting results if you layer the dry synth line and then the fx from another take where you have altered the actual synth line.

I record way more and that has improved my situation, for sure.

+1 for spontanious recording sessions, also the fact I can implement side chain effects and other mixing techniques to make a better feeling mix with individual tracks. Sad to see all the people having problems with OB, only had a few freeze ups while using it.

for me it’s just been a convenience factor and the sync factor. I have an old (well 3year old) Macbook Air and I’m rock solid with sync in Ableton. Then again I don’t use Ableton too many demanding efx or other plugins/clips whatever, it’s mainly a “cassette recorder” if you will.

Great idea!!

Wouldn’t say my music has improved necessarily, but my productivity certainly has. I’ve programmed around 30 sounds on the A4 in the past couple of days, which is more than I’d managed in the 3 or 4 months while El Cap knocked out Overbridge … so yeah, I’d say it definitely helps.

Finished a track at the start of the month in record time for me also - and this is including regular restarts because of the beta’s instability on my system.

My main use for Overbridge is to make my A4 double as a crystal clear audio interface. I did use the plugin to set up some basic patches and performance macros but haven’t needed to open it since.

All my parameter automation is done with good old MIDI CC in Renoise. I still do it with MIDI cables - my laptop is ten years old so bundling MIDI data in with the audio caused the audio to break up.

It’s all super-snappy after adjusting for latencies. Here’s a tune I made at the weekend:

Definitely.

Because it’s never worked too well with Logic, I’ve been more focused on just getting sh!t done and I’ve come to the realisation that other than patch and device management, everything else is just a distraction anyway.

Ooh pretty colours…

My music hasn’t improved since the early 80s.

I can definitely visualize things better through OB allowing me to see things from a more general view. I love what they did with the FX portion in terms of visualization. I guess you can say making patches has improved, but the intention, at least for my own n=1 purposes, was never to have ‘improved music.’ It was to have a cleaner workflow that provided me the ability to switch back and forth between the computer and the box with ease. I like sketching things out with the box and then being clinical with it through overbridge.

Pity though that I don’t see the Delay’s ‘Time’ parameter as modulatable. Was having fun with it on a pad I was creating but couldn’t find it in the list :(.
