How do you save on the Digitakt?

Strangely enough this Digitrinity series on how you save and store things on the devices has been somewhat popular so I made one specific to the Digitakt.

How do I save on the Elektron Digitakt?

I realize this shows that I still have a general lack of understanding about how the Digitakt manages sounds and samples etc., but is their a reason that saved sounds when assigned to a track via the Sound Browser knob don’t get loaded into the sample section you access via knob D?

I believe this is because of the difference between sounds and samples. But it’s been a while since I owned one.

It works like this: You can assign up to 127 samples into one project. From each of these samples, you can create sounds, save them and assign them to your sound pool.

The sound pool is accessed via the browser knob and the samples via knob D.

A use case for this could be for example a sample of an amen break:

  • You can assign the “raw” sample to sample slot 1
  • From there you can change the starting point and save it as different sounds and add them to your sound pool.
  • So your amen break of sample slot 1 is then used for 7-8 sounds in your sound pool.
