How to efficiently load Sounds?

Hi!

I’ve pretty much neglected the sound lock part of Digitone. Could someone explain in 5-year-old terms how one most easily loads sounds to the … project, uh, memory, for use with sound locks? This has always seemed like a fairly convoluted process, but I’m hoping I’m just missing a key combo or something.

Thanks for any help!

EDIT: To clarify, I’ve managed to do this in the past – I’m just looking for the quickest possible workflow for this.

I took the liberty to rename this topic title, because the question is far from stupid. And interests me as well

Press Setup
Go into Sounds
Choose Sound Manager
Go down the list “auditioning sounds from the digitone keyboard”
When you want one, YES to put a tick next to it…
Keep doing this to build up a load of “ticks” next to sounds.
Then when you have a list you want.
Hit ARROW RIGHT and choose COPY TO: - and then Choose SOUND POOL.

They will be available (on a track) by hitting (and holding) a trig in record mode and turning the Level Data/Sound Browser knob

That’s as simple as I could do it.

and you can also search for specific sounds: for example you want to make a drumbank from the soundpool! Search kick and tick the ones you like, search hats, snare, and so on… 128sounds max in the pool. Keep in mind that every project has its own pool! So don’t copy a pattern with soundlocks to another project!

Thanks! I guess this is it - will just have to commit it to muscle memory

Have a look in the manual in section 9.1, and especially the aptly named 9.1.1 ADDING SOUNDS TO THE SOUND POOL.

It might need unicorns and cartoon characters to get 5 yr olds interested.

Or fortnite purchases and costumes.

Ahem. I just asked a RTFM question, didn’t I? Good reminder

I don’t think so: imo you were also asking the most efficient way there is. As in “is there some shortcut?”

Well I am the Keeper of the Manuals so …
Dont worry about it. Just its always a good habit to first search through the manual and see if you can find the answer there :slightly_smiling_face:
Have a good weekend making music!
