True. Those were pretty bad as well.
I don’t mean to say that critique is bad at all. It’s just the not being interested in something and yet posting 10+ posts about what one thinks misses or thinks is stupid about a new instrument

Yes. I thought that was rather obvious.
I don’t know if you remember the Digitakt or Model:Samples launch but I’d say they were about on par. Maybe it hits differently when you’ve been using this device for a little while yourself, and you’re clearly enjoying it.

It does sorta ring alarm bells that the people that were given test units are running defense against criticism for the box.

I think they just genuinely like this device. It’s just a weird situation where most us only have youtube videos and a manual to go off of and they’ve obviously had it in their hands for a while.
They’ve been really excited for it to finally drop so they can talk about it and they’re greated by a horde of angry elektronauts who were hoping it be something else.

had a similar thought but don’t want to go there as I don’t want to project that sort of thinking/behaviour onto long-standing members of this community. I could imagine they just really like the box and/or are excited about having been given early access. It actually does look like a cool groovebox for those in the market for one

Exactly this. @DaveMech I always value your contributions on this board, I know you mean well always. Read through e.g. this thread and its discussion. I think OP was not moaning, just sharing his disappointment and wondering whether he should read more into it than just a disappointing product release (ie has the company as such changed?).
The discussion was 90% on topic, intelligent and in good faith and OP even posted at one point that he is glad to learn that Elektron has maybe only shifted the focus a little and that he can now see the good in the Syntakt…and in between this discussion, people pop in and label it as complaining, moaning, ungrateful, ill-willed etc.
I genuinely believe that those people don’t even bother to read the thread, they just pick up on one comment and react to it with exactly the behaviour they criticise (something I find is becoming commonplace on here unfortunately…maybe as you say testament to the possible growth of the forum).
That sort of stuff derails the conversation quickly, especially given the aggressiveness and righteousness with which some of these off comments are delivered with.
