I think one of the major issues on this forum is that there’s a habit to interrupt critical discussions with (somewhat righteous?) meta commentary that projects negative intentions or ill-will onto posters that hold seemingly contrarian views to the implicit status quo of this forum…fair enough when that happens, but once a person addresses the projection / corrects it (i.e. “that was not my intention, my intention was…”), it tends to keep going because the next person jumps in and without bothering to read the whole thread just picks up where the previous intervener left off (which sort of is reflected in the current mushrooming of anarchic Syntakt shitpost threads…to me just a revelatory effect of this increasing dynamic on this forum).
The mods tend to not moderate those interventionist posts, i.e. the projecting of ill-will / bad/lowly intentions hardly ever gets flagged or challenged, especially if they are either
A. packaged in snappy one liners
B. delivered with a (superficial) tonality of inclusivity and righteousness
which is a shame, because they are actually a form of violent communication - and I mean that exactly. It’s often a subtle and sometimes subconscious form of violence though, so this is no diss towards the mods, just pointing out that that sort of stuff doesn’t get addressed at all.
The dynamic usually leads to the person being accused explaining their intention, which leads to that intention being challenged again, which leads to the person explaining themselves again until finally, the very intervener that derailed a decent conversation in first place throws up their hands in despair and anouces to the world that they will mute the channel because they just can’t tolerate the level of toxicity in it (that they brought in first place).

@Lauli and I have both said we’re doing that, but if you look at what we actually posted it was very mild. And it was done in threads like the wahmbulance one where a bit of silliness is on-topic. I don’t think anybody is trolling or trying to deliberately cause bad reactions from people. It’s not real shitposting, just a bit of fun.
I think after all the adrenaline of the syntakt teasers and announcement the forum is a bit over-tired, and needs a good night’s sleep!

And I don’t understand how expressing that you want to start a youtube channel so that you can get sent free stuff in the company of someone that started and runs a successful YouTube channel and gets sent free stuff is considered a “low blow”
