Track 12-question: There is no Closed/Open-hihat choke functionality as on the AR? There is no possibility to assign machines per step as I understand it. You are “only” left with the decay param to p-lock, right?
You could just sound lock open and closed hi hats on the same track which would effectively be the same.
Riiiight, with the sound pool, ofc. Thx
I received my Syntakt this morning. Love it so far, it sounds stellar and the FX blocks workflow is just great. I noticed the bottom/right side of the device was hot after 30 minutes and I was wondering if it’s ok to put it on a Fönik type wooden stand regarding heat dissipation. I didn’t see any recommendation in the manual.
Iam also a lucky new owner of a ST.
After a view hours i can make a short review:
- the three analog tracks can each be assigned an analog synth module, so you already have a 75% ANALOG FOUR!
- the audio input can be routed to the effects and the analog overdrive. So you have an ANALOG HEAT Light (by the way, the box gets pretty warm, which underlines that again
- the delay can also be used as a poor man’s chorus replacement with minimal time and width
- the usb audio is class compliant
But why oh why Elektron only monophonic tracks and only 2 fx busses!? Especially the digital synth sounds needing a real chorus.
The lack of the DIGITAKT compressor is irritating. And again, same old story: 4 measure pattern max and still not a song mode.
Elektron we are in 2022!
My guy spent £3000 on a Minimoog.
Imagine his horror when he found out it was not only monophonic, but monotimbral.
Mugged.
Welcome to Elektronauts!
I might quibble at your math (DVCO ≠ A4 voice) but I’m sure you’ll enjoy your new device!
anyone know if it’s possible to set up the routing on the Syntakt so that the signals you’re sending into the external inputs are sent to the delay and reverb, but the dry signal is not sent to the master out?
i.e., if you turn down the dry external input in the mixer, does it also necessarily cease to go to the reverb and delay?
RUU-BATOO preset pattern is nice!
ooooh: and adding SPACE CAFÉ
some guy did a vid going thru all the patterns
tip of the cap to the person that made that one
Song mode?
The main thing that the syntakt has on MC are the filter tracks, ADSR, and analog drive and filter.
But the main thing I would like to see added to cycles is shift+decay for attack, and master delay should be able to direct through the master reverb if desired, both of which I believe are possible on syntakt.
Seems like the Syntakt is a great device, but what do you think of the Modifiers? I haven’t seen much on those yet.
At first I thought that was the best feature, but it looks like they are a bit “meh” or maybe underused in the current videos available.
Please save your mockery, I knew that beforehand. But I didn’t want to leave it unmentioned. Then there are mostly digital sound generators that are monophonic for not only useful.
I am fairly confident that future ST updates will focus on improving or expanding on the modifier-concept. It is a new feature from Elektron, and this is where development-efforts will be focused.
For mono synth I like the Eventide TriceraChorus https://www.eventideaudio.com/pedals/tricerachorus/ and DAWless control of that pedal the Disaster Area MIDI Box 4 MIDI Box 4 — Disaster Area Designs
Might be an idea for Elektron devices as well because it supports mono and stereo inputs.
Sorry, didn’t mean to offend, but have you read the thread?
It’s been mentioned a few times.
Hence the joke.
I’m sure Syntakt will have some machines added eventually, like the rest of them. I can see a RAM machine, but I’m curious if anyone thinks we’ll see more machines that are not pulled from the other Elektron devices? What types seem likely, just some more bread and butter stuff?
yes you allways can add fx chains with chorus, flanger, phaser and what not. But on a drum maschine you usually want not effect the bass / bass drum with that (but ofcours you can if you want!). So a single stereo master out on a 12 track drum maschine without any individual outs … makes that a little hard.
One can argue, that the Analog Rytm is the maschine for that kind of setup and that would be true. If Elektron would add the 8 digital tracks to the Rytm so that you can switch between the analog instrument or a adigital instrument … that would be great!
