Is Model Samples sounds more LO-FI-ish than Digitakt?

I feel like Model Samples sounds really different from Digitakt? The sound is more of lo-fi with higher mid frequencies or is it just me?

Hm. When I had both, I thought of the opposite

Didn’t A-B them. But somehow the M:S sounded more “in your face - pristine” compared to the Digitakt which sounded a bit muffled but also punchy at the same time. :woman_shrugging:t2: It sounded like it had more detail in the transient. Or a louder transient?
I don’t think what I’m saying makes much sense.

Yes I agree

As far as I’m aware, like the M:C, the M:S has lower headroom than the other elektron boxes, so this is probably the root cause of the tonal difference. I find the M:S sounds great when you push the volume.

Perceptually, the Digitakt has a higher freq focus over my Rytm, Octa, or M:S.

Always felt MS sounded the best of the bunch, strangely.

Balanced but punchy.

I do wonder if there’s a little compressor hiding in there, always listening, like on the Circuit Rhythm and blackbox, say.

And the cycles too

By “bunch” I was keeping it on topic and referring to the sample playback Elektrons, as they’re easiest to compare. Can load them all with the same sounds.
