Hi, Im completely new to posting on this site so im not sure if this is the right spot for this, but I would like to ask if you think the digitone would be a good first synth for a someone who is pretty much a beginner when it comes to synthesis but is interested in learning.
For some background I make mostly downtempo hiphop, lofi sample based hip hop, and also ambient tracks. I have used a maschine and a MIDI keyboard for awhile and have used the some of the synths NI provides, mostly as massive and monark (I have also messed around in sylenth1 a little). I would not describe myself as the best at sound synthesis, and have never used an FM synth. It is always more of a âim gonna let the synth take me to the soundâ, rather than âim trying to build a precise soundâ type of thing when I use these programs, but I am interested in learning more about sound design. I understand the basics of synths and am ready to dive deeper, but would still consider myself a beginner. I also have an SP404 that I use for sampling and FX, just a side note.
Some other synths Ive been looking at are the Korg Minilogue, Behringer Model D or Nuetron, Roland SE-02 or JU-06, Arturia Minibrute, and the Deluge.
I know this is a variety of different types of synths (poly, mono, digital, analog, etc) but I feel I could be easily convinced one way one or the other at this point. However, I am personally leaning towards something with a more analog, that is polyphonic (again not against mono at all though, im not a classically trained pianist or anything), and I wouldnât mind be able to save patches.
Sorry for such a long post, but I would like to start off with the correct synth to lead me into better sound design, also I know this list has a variety of sounds and price ranges but thats really why Im asking, I cant decide haha.
*EDIT: Hi everyone, Id like to inform you that with the help of everyone of this forum I was able to purchase a used digitone for my first synth, thanks everyone I really appreciate the help and support from the community you guys are awesome. Cant wait for it to arrive in the mail.
