Isn't the Analog Four the most incredible and deep instrument from Elektron so far?

Oh! I’ll have to have a look. Didn’t even think of that!

the interesting thing about neigboor could be to trig at a different step… but you can use poly to trig at the same time

DFAM Territory right there…

Couldn’t this be done using the CV inputs?

A fast (audio rate?) random LFO assigned to filter might get you a similar result.

(first 4 notes have no modulation, then with lfo > multimode filter)

nice :sunglasses:

I agree with the sentiment in this thread that A4 really excels when approached in a creative experimental manner rather than as bread n butter synth.

tho @darenager can coax some sweet old school acid out of it too. bread n butter can just take more effort than some other synths I guess.

I imagine so but I also imagine that the sample rate of the cv inputs might not be as high res as you’d like for smooth noise modulation.

That actually sounds a lot smoother than I thought it would! I imagine it could be nice on pitch too

I think the Rytm has lots of potential.

that’s with LFO > Filter Freq, at a depth of 1.0

LFO > Filter Res at a depth of 127 sounds similar

That ending… :+1:
I always liked your demonstrations of DN so now it’s the right time to ask you, which one you prefer, DN or A4?

I still haven’t decided

Both synths have their sound signature, let your preference guide your choice.

So wild!!!

I’m leaning towards A4 tbh! Mostly for the extra control that is available via FX track etc, and as above, the neighbour track stuff. And the trig mutes, direct jump, kit based structure…

DN still sounds great but it usually pushes me to make super melodic stuff and the kit per pattern thing doesn’t really inspire me to make tracks with multiple sections. I also wish it had some way for the tracks to effect each other, it’s a big part of my sound that I feel is missing on the DN.

Also thanks for the nice comments!

Can you explain this neighbour track stuff a bit more pls? Thnx

From the manual :

WAV (OSC2 Waveform) can be set to Sawtooth, Transistor Pulse, Pulse, or Triangle. It is also possible to choose one of the two External Inputs (to send external sounds through the filters) or to activate Neighbor, which will route the audio of the previous track to the currently active track.

Can’t you also replace one of the Oscilators with the External Audio In?

So you could have a modular oscillator as part of the voice makeup?

So the oscs of the active track don’t produce sound but the active track’s channel serves as an fx channel?

Neighbor is for OSC2 only. You can still choose a WAV with OSC1.

Good lord that’s wonderful fun. This box (and the artists who wield it) never cease to amaze.
