Isn't the Analog Four the most incredible and deep instrument from Elektron so far?

Thanks! I already wrote them

And yes I have the plastic cover but this knob still somehow escaped my lair

That is actually a pretty neat question.
A short answer could be “just an interpretation of your brain”

Boooo

No master, no slave, no midi connection
just manually set the bpm

I love this! What are you adjusting here, to make the timbre change? Sync Amount?

Basically, pitch and sync are adjusted via modulators.

Longer version

In the recording, notes start at 100% sync when it sounds ‘clean’.
Osc1 is set to +7, Osc2 is set to +12.
The User Env is assigned to Sync Amount (-128). At first you only hear the ‘clean’ Osc2 because the decay is long.
As the Env Decay is shortened, the effect of Osc1 creeps in as a lower octave fragmentation, caused by the detuning of the Oscs.
Then the pitch of both Oscs falls by different amounts via MW mappings (Osc1 -7, Osc2 -12)

Thank you

owning the a4 since 2014
I had no idea what i bought
Slowly started to understand it
Bought a lot of gear
Sold almost all
I use a4 (mk2) + looper + mixer
Best setup ever, best fun for making music
And slowly realize how deep it is

Still I have the idea i am scratching the surface of synthesis
I make my own sounds, and work with 10 favorite sounds. I tweak, plock and macro them.
The groovebox feels comfortable now.

I think too many people buy too much gear.
The world inside the a4 is very big
I use the glide in the menu under osc 2
Never tried ‘metal sync’

What looper do you use ?

Boss rc500
Little bit of latency
Super stable clock
No midi connected (yet, but it can be synced)
just manually set to the right bpm

Headphone of a4 —> looper —> mixer channel 2
Output of a4 —> mixer channel one

There might be better options with more possibilities. This solution is light to the brain abdis much better with long and very long loops than i.e. Octatrack

Does everyone else here think that the A4 has a sound/tonality/vibe all of its own?

I often try and recreate patches that I like on one machine on another… but I find certain patches I have in my A4 are impossible to recreate anywhere else.

I think the 2 filters is a huge part of it, and there’s not many other options out there that can replicate what can be done with them… Arturia Polybrute comes closest of my hardware synths, but it always sounds quite different.

The A4 is just a beast of an instrument, IMO.

Completely agree.

I can get such a large range of sounds out of mine and there’s definitely a whole bunch that I’ve not been able to coax out of my other synths… I find it funny I ever gave any notice to the idea of the A4 sounding thing or weak or bad as I love it so much now that I bought a second.

Done. New things to explore. No regrets yet !
Enjoy your A4 ! (I did)

Indeed
The A4 is simply unbelievable, and so difficult to compare to any other synth. I guess filters usually make a huge part of any instruments actually, and those from the A4 are sooooo nice!
Did you ever try a Blofeld? It is a complete different beast, but also with two rather interesting filters including comb ones  and a massive matrix route to design sounds with.
