I know this might sound a bit too simple of a question…
The other day, I was experimenting with some old Patterns I had made, and then started loading up different Kits than the ones they were initially created with/tied to those Patterns. It was just for fun to see what things would sounds like.
I kept going until I realized I didn’t remember what ANY of the original Kits to those Patterns were. For some Kits, I was able to match back to their original Pattern because it was obvious, but others I just couldn’t match back up for the life of me.
Is there a naming convention I could be using in my organization workflow? Or is there something else…maybe it just boils down to common sense and user error? Copying a Pattern before messing with it?
I normally use kit names that match pattern names. Re your issue, I believe that as long as you do not (auto-)save a pattern on which you have loaded a different kit, you can always go back to the initially saved pattern/kit association by reloading the pattern (no+scene).
Edit: keep in mind that on AR, pattern are always auto-saved when you change them.
Alright, I had a feeling naming conventions would have something to do with it. Even though it sounds simple, hearing it from someone else narrows things down.
When you say “auto-save”, what exactly do you mean? Switching to a different Pattern while the current Kit is active will auto-save it, is that it?
A pattern contains a connection to exactly one kit (while a kit can be connected to multiple patterns). When you load a new kit in a pattern and then change to another pattern, the connection to the new kit is auto-saved. (There are are several threads on this forum discussing the advantages and inconvenients of this feature…)
