Keyboard sending midi but not sequencer track

Just getting back into using the A4 as a sequencer but can’t get the sequencer sending to external MIDI gear for some reason.

The MIDI track number’s correct, send MIDI’s enabled in the notes menu and the A4 keyboard can send to the external gear but it’s not sending any note trigs from the sequencer. I’ve cleared the track and still no luck.

Did you maybe mute the track?

No, track’s not muted.

Perhaps this ? Manual P46

In midi settings is it set to USB or midi? Or ext or int etc

Nothing’s set to USB. All MIDI. Everything’s INT+EXT except Encoders which is just INT.

Can you try a different midi cable

Don’t have a spare to hand and I might give up for now if there’s no easy settings thing I’ve missed and try again when I’ve got more time.

It is a bit weird though as it’s passing note data fine via the keyboard. I do most of my sequencing through the Octatrack, controlling one synth via the A4 would have solved a problem but not urgently needed so I’ll have another go when I’ve got my troubleshooting head back on

You mean the keyboard on the A4 or an external one? If it’s an external one, are you sure you have connected the other external gear to MIDI out?

The A4 keyboard which was confusing so I cleared the track as the next step.

Sounds like the solution is the per track midi setting noted above wrt P46. This is per track and per pattern

Definitely enabled on the track (T3/4 Send Midi checked). I was hoping I’d missed something obvious but I’ve recabled it back to the original setup now and I’ll stick with that for now. Thanks for the tips all.

Make sure Port Config/Output Ch is set to send on Track Channel (not Auto) - this could explain why you see midi activity on the auto channel keyboard going to an external device but not when the track is used (with a sensible track channel number is set obvs)

keep auto channel as a unique number from track chans
