Hey all. I would like to send Keystep midi out to an audio interface where it will sync to internal tempo and then midi out from audio interface to A4 MK2 midi in and be able to play it that way. While also being able to then sequence it from Ableton Live 11 from recorded midi. How do I do that?

For setup I would connect the key step to your computer via usb, then activate it to send and receive midi in Live’s midi device preferences.
Then just create a midi track in Live and send the midi from that track to the key step to sequence from Ableton Live.
Then create an audio track in Live to receive audio from your A4. (You could even group the two tracks for convenience)
Thank you so much! I got the playing A4 + recording midi part working right. Trying to figure out how to sequence it from Live will be the next step. I would really like to play it and then play with FX on the fly… atm I would need one more to do that. Maybe I just could make a straight connection from midi out on my audio interface to midi in on A4 when I get to that point and it will work. <3.

No problem, best of luck! Depending on what your preference is, there’s more than a few ways to sequence everything with what you have.
Elektron’s Overbridge application works really well as another option. You could add the A4 VST to a midi track and have control directly from the A4 itself or from the VST in Live. Then you could play the A4 from the keystep connected to your computer via USB.
