I got the soundcraft epm 12 and notice that I sometimes can hear mostly hi frequency sounds like hihats even though that channel is muted. Is this normal? its not a very big problem when making hard music but tracked a guitar to a tune yesterday and could hear the sizzling in the back.
Sounds like crosstalk. This was the best article I could find. Looks like there are a couple of things you can try to mitigate this but not a huge amount you can do. I’ve never had to deal with this issue myself.

Hmm noticed if I put auxes to post from pre the leak goes away. Does that mean its not crosstalk? Easier to work around it anyway.
I think that still sounds like some kind of crosstalk, depending on how your routing is setup. I’m no expert tho - studied sound engineering many moons ago.
At least you found some kind of solution!
