This is kind of a general question but does anyone have any information on how this preset was made or the reasoning behind some of the parameter settings? I think I figured out LFSR stand for Linear Feedback Shift Register, which according to the wikipedia page is a good way to approximate white noise. What does the “SM” stand for?
It’s a pretty general question, but I’m trying to figure out how the Digitone’s white noise generating capabilities compare to Ableton Operator’s built-in white noise generator. I use white noise as the base of a lot of synthesized drum sounds and I love the idea of being able to generate the noise myself.
One thing I’ve noticed is that “LFSR NOISE SM” is definitely a lot closer to white noise than the other noise preset, “JUST NOISE”.
