Live 9.6 + A4 OB1.10 = no reaction

Hi folks,

[ul]
[li]System: Windows 10, Ableton Live 9.6, Overbridge 1.10[/li]
[li]everything is set up correctly and A4 is in USB Overbridge mode[/li]
[li]If i start OB control panel alone, the A4 outs and ins work flawlessly[/li]
[li]If i start Live with an A4 chanel active:
the GUI pops up, but there is no interaction between software and A4 at all. Every chanel in OB is named “New Sound”, the soundpool is empty, etc. If i twist knobs: no visual reaction in OB interface. In the OB interface settings, the A4 shows up as the selected instrument.[/li]
[li]With other words: there is no functionality for me in OB v1.10[/li]
[li]With OB v1.0 i’ve had no problems, everything worked fine.[/li]
[/ul]

What can i do to solve this?
Downgrading to the older a4 firmware seems to be no good idea: elektron warns to do this, but OB v1.0 can’t cope with the latest A4 firmware.

I’m out of ideas, could someone help me?
Thanks alot,
Gekko

Did you pair the machine with the plugin? If I remember coorectly this is the first step inside the plugin. Top right corner, machine icon, then select it right underneath.

I have a default template that pairs my machines on default in Ableton.

Yes, the plugin is paired with the A4…

Sounds to me like a driver error then. Have you tried reinstalling everything? So maybe;

  • Unplug A4
  • Uninstall drivers + overbridge
  • Reboot
  • Download latest firmware + C6 + Overbridge (there is a c6 paired in the download, don’t know if it matters but best to use this one)
  • Install overbridge and drivers
  • Plug in machine + configure in Overbridge control panel.
  • Start ableton

It’s easy to mis something in the correct order of things.
Other then that I’m out of ideas and I would start a support ticket.

Im using Live 9.6 and Overbridge 1.10 with no problems on OS X.

Live 9.6 has had a few tweaks under the hood, that have broken compatibility in some cases. For example, the LiveControl scripts for Lemur and TouchOSC are currently broken because Live 9.6 now uses Python 2.7.

Not saying Live is definitely the problem but its something to consider. 9.6 was only released a few days ago so Overbridge isn’t the only thing you have updated recently. Maybe try an older version of Live if all else fails.

I found the reason:
[ul]
[li]When i opened up the OB plugin in Live and went to preferences, there was still the old version number of Overbridge (1.0.0.0)[/li]
[li]The destination path for the OB plugins installed in a wrong directory named “programs/steinberg/VSTPlugins”, but my plugin directory has always been “programs/VSTPlugins”. The installer of v1.10 ignored that and placed them into a new folder.[/li]
[li]This folder will not be scanned by Live.[/li]
[/ul]

That’s all. Wrong directory. Thank you SO much for your help, guys!
=)
