have any of you seen any cool cases for a live synth/loop/keys rig? i’m shocked i haven’t seen anything made for this.
i dug this old thing out. not ideal, but it will work while i work out what exactly else i need for live work.
i loathe setting up, so i need to show up, remove my lid, get some power… plug into the system and go.
i’m considering the octatrack, but…gonna pause and get my head around md & a4 first.
btw, the korg volca beats sounds fantastic through the fx channel of the a4. super great way to cover standard beat territory w/o wasting md/a4 channels, but tweakable and fun.
Case is very heavy but convenient as it is all there… Just patch up audio cable to mixer (1 min) and power leads about 5 min…
Have a look at this thread over at LivePA.org
I’m working on one, just missing one bit of kit, and sort out connections/power
Agree.
There aren´t many options for any kind of case that is convenient, flexible (in regard to different gears) and first and foremost reliable but also lightweighted in itself.
Being a guitarist, most of my gears are actually rackunits, but as soon you´d want to add any non-racksize unit (i e synth/keyboard/sampler) into the setup. The options are narrowed down significantly…
I´ve just recently figured out that it may be wiser to chop the whole setup down in different “stations” though. But then I need to figure out an foolproof interconnection back and forth between them all…
Yeah, I purchased a fairly large flight case that was customized into a pedal board. Though, it was a lot heavier than I anticipated, it does fit everything quite nicely and the fact that it has wheels is convenient.
I say the biggest thing is to just find something that works for you and work from there.
the station thing is the right idea i think. still struggling to make decisions and boundaries.
cleaned things up a bit since then. its a gator mixer case, octa, A4, A and H zed 10, furman power supply, all wired up with patch cables. everything fits pretty snug with the aid of velcro. only need to plug in a few cables when playing live
You may consider this for tidying up cabling… Awesome stuff…
My one-box solution.
SKB 12U pop-up rackmount ATA mixer case.
It is possible to mount 1 more elektron box into it, but you have to simply add spacers under rack ears of third unit.
It is better to have OT on the top of others as it has 2 lines of outputs and inputs.
Case is really big and has additional space for cables, psu’s and other gear inside.
Build quality is excellent and it is very easy and comfortable to use it. In case you are sitting on the chair you can raise all units to comfortable angle.
Another good option is that case cover can be mounted under the case itself and raise whole construction.
loving that juno. do you sequence it from the OT.
have you had issues with the voice chips?
that spiral wrap looks like a good idea. so is the pop-up mixer (i have one that I used for my Zed 14 live; thinking about mounting modular in it instead)
haven’t had any issues with the Juno just yet. the previous owner had 2 or 3 of the chips serviced, and the other ones seem to be still going strong. haven’t used it too much with the octatrack, i mainly sequence a minibrute/SEM combo (midi to minibrute, CV from minibrute to SEM). I couldn’t live without the Octa; completely changed our live show.
i really enjoy seeing these creative setups. can’t wait to see what other people have worked out
