I’m by no means an expect but would it be possible to swap out the usb socket on the MS for a usb C socket?
Would that have huge implications for the software/hardware?

i also think that its a shame models didnt come out with usb c or a (type b).
i think as long as you wire the connectors correctly theu should be interchangable.
wouldnt do it myself though.
perhaps getting a low profile magnetic cable+adapter be a good solution if you plan on powering with usb.

Well honestly for my its just the connector I want to change. I can power the unit with a powerbank and usb to barrel connector.
It would be simply to not carry a mini/micro usb with me and be able to use usb c for computer/iPad connectivity

I could be wrong but I suspect the cable change to usb-c might be more than just getting the pins connected right. (If there exists such a thing as a completely passive (no components inside) USB-C to USB micro adapter, then I’ll be wrong)

kinda fearing the same
then mini to c adapter can help. its a bit more bulky than a magnetic one but its still better than carrying an extra cable.
the port shouldve been a type B just like the other boxes. theres more than enough space for it. but of course its a budget decision for a budget box.

This microphone build involves converting USB-A to USB-C via a breakout board. Do some research and experiments before cutting up your M:S, but the project looks feasible.
