Machinedrum MK1 + Roland TR-8

Hey, I’m trying to record and sync Machinedrum MK1 and Roland Aira TR-8. In your opinion, which is the best (and easier) way to integrate both for recording into a DAW (Live 9 for example)?

Thanks a million!

HELLO,
As usually, that’s thread on that on the forum, and you will find it with a bit of search…

First Scenario (Easier ONE)
I will reply by my experience. it depend of the needs and the intention. if you only want a rec take of you JAMMING your machinedrum + TR8 main output (just sync via midi, just just tell which box is master, which one is slave)

If you want to record multiple OUT of the devices it’s a matter of sound card possibility stay with the first scenario. OR you can use the benefit of the TR8 daw kind of integration and transmit separate sound via USB.

Second Scenario (Not expansive but time consuming)
You want a SYNC on PLAY/REC for both of it include the computer

Third Scenario (Expansive but PRO and Easier too)
For information, MINILOGUE use ACME4 in Live because they Mix Hardware with Ableton. I know few people use SYNCGEN and it’s amazing

There’s also Roland which release a SYNC BOX (in the Aira Line but when i don’t know) And KOMA Electronic RH301. BUT i’m not sure you will be able to do all and also inscribe you in the futur maybe with some hardware in adjunction. ACME4 is 4 Midi Sync. SYNCGEN2pro is Computer + 5 Midi + 5 Din (TR909 etc… old machine)

Hope it’s help
Cheers

You’re amazing!!! Thank you so much for this!

u welcome

Hello William, I have another question (so sorry to bother you again): in the second scenario, to sync MD with a DAW, I only need a usb/midi cable? The DAW will recognize it?
Thanks again!

Try with the TM1 it’s USB + a midi cable it should working
or midi on your sound card, SYNC pass by MIDI [OUT] on your sound card or TM1 to Machiendrum [IN] and you need to Set Sync on Receive or Slave on the MachineDrum and Master is your DAW as it’s explain on the youtube video.

Thanks!!!
