Mapping model:samples knobs to control other hardware

Hi there,

I have a Korg Monologue and the model samples and was wondering how I could go about controling the parameters of the Monologue through the Model:Samples via midi. The thing I mostly confused about is how to map which controls on the samples to which on the monologue, i.e., if I want to control the filter cutoff of the Monologue via the Samples how do I do that? The manuals of both seem to imply it is possible but the instructions are very vague. Which knob on the samples would be assigned to the cutoff on the monologue, how do I choose which knob? Sorry if this is an easy question.

For the samples you just have to accept that a given knob will transmit it’s own fixed CC … it’s not configurable. Sounds like you’ve already found the place in the manual that tells you which CCs (?) but just in case, it’s appendix A. That lists (for instance) filter cutoff as 74.

I’m not familiar with the Minilogue XD so I’ll leave it to someone else to be definitive on that … but the filter cutoff appears to 43, which doesn’t correspond to anything on the Samples. I have no idea if the CCs on the XD are configurable (but I suspect they’re not).

That is what I saw in manual and was worried because it did not seem to make much sense to me, why would they makes the CCs a fixed value?

:man_shrugging: … maybe because they’re offering for sale an instrument, not a midi control surface ? I agree it would have been nice, but I can’t really complain, TBH.

very true, I should probably be more upset about the poor build quality of the Korg, trying to find a work around for a bad pot.
