I seem to have missed this! Very cool indeed.
Roland calls it the âAudio Insert Functionâ and itâs detailed in the V1.30 Update here.
The other MC-707 manuals are here. Powerful stuff!
Can someone shed some light on MC101 tone settings as I canât find info on this anywhere - If i load my wav sample in a tone track, can I loop the wav, set start and end points, set envelope?
Can someone tell me if I can use the MC 707 like this:
Midi out from the 707 to a splitter. From there midi out to a deepmind 12, a Neutron, and either a BLackbox or a Pioneer sp-16.
Then, use the audio insert to hook up stereo from deepmind, mono from Neutron, Mono from drum module (BB or SP-16) into 707.
Then attach Keystep to midi in on the 707.
SoâŚwant to play Deepmind and Neutron and sequence them from 707 and record them using Keystep into the 707. Set up a drum track and use the pads to midi out and sequence the BB or SP-12âs 16 pads and have that recorded into the 707âŚ
Phew. Sorry, a lot of verbage for basic questions.
Thanks.
Yes, thatâs possible.
btwâŚthe MC-707 has 2 midi-out ports. Both can be activated via the settings as midi-thru
Hi!
I made an Octatrack template, where the Octatrack is the sequencer, and the 707 is used as sound module: Octatrack + 707 template project
Peace!
Demo on Sonicstate of the updates in 1.30
Does anyone know where the MC community Roland is listening to? I imagine not this one on the Elektron forum. Overall Iâm very pleased with the 707. Just would like to put in a request for copy/paste of drum track steps. As well as an easier way to replicate drum instruments within a kit.
There are several active groups on Facebook, like the MC-707 group. Over there you can put your requests and questions, Roland developers are following the threads.
You can copy steps. Check the Roland site and one of the last updates. The instructions are in that updateâs new feature manual.
Function + Up and down
âAdded Functions for TONE STEP EDITâ. Looking for the same function on drum tracks.
I just bought a Vermona DRM mk3. I might buy a 707. I âassumeâ I can run midi out from a drum track to the Vermona and play and sequence that with the pads? Anyone run midi out to a drum machine?
I tried this with an MC 101 and does not seem to work. The Beat Step works great though.
I guess another question.
How is the 707 as a master. I have the Vermona now sequenced by a Beap Step Pro and was thinking of a 707 as a midi for a Matrixbrute but would need it to be a master for the BSP.
Thanks.
Just ordered another MC-707 sold the first one however it now seems to do a lot more than when I got one on release. Looking forward to getting my hands on it.
Question?
Worth getting the TR8s to go alongside this one? Anyone else use both syncâd?
Thanks
It certainly seems to be the case, and itâs a brilliant concept, where not only is the software compatible with some of the hardware (like in plug-out), now a big part of the hardware range is also compatible including FX.
Hereâs the catch: for the full editor you need Zenology Pro, for which you need a $99 a year subscription (!!!). No option to buy at the moment.
Possibly makes for the mc101 being a very useful portable rompler: 4 tracks selecting any of your favourite 4000 onboard custom patches
Be interesting to see how deeply Roland plans to monetise the whole offering
My situation exactly, I have a 101 coming and this will turbocharge it. But Iâd rather they named a price and I can decide to buy or not, rather than pay a subscription that includes a bunch of stuff I donât need. As it is, I bought a piece of hardware and I have to pay $100 a year for an editorâŚI suppose this makes it the most expensive editor in the business by a landslide.
I was afraid it would come down to this.
I dont need to rent the ability to use a rompler groovebox the way I want like it is photoshop or something.
Of course you can use it as is but like a lot of people I thought the zencore would open up its possibilities, and that most of the wallet damage was done by buying the MCâŚwe all have many subscriptions alreadyâŚ
I am out altogether.
Glad I was able to flip my MC for a Hydrasynth Desktop.
To be fair, Zenology isnât just an editor, it is a very powerful soft-synth. Iâm not sorry I bought the 101 because there was no editor at the time and so nothing has been lost.
The problem for Roland is that the Zen-Core engine is already in the 101. Assuming some 3rd party creates an editor for the 707 or the Fantom, whatâs to stop me using the same editor on the 101?
I donât mind Roland making some money on a good idea, but not the damn subscription model where the day you stop it your past investment goes down the toilet.
