Yes, they do allow you to buy an instrument outright, but not the Zenology synth, which is what I will need to program my MC 101. At the moment, I will have to keep a paid subscription going to access that.
Can the MC-707 do quantized recording and have whatever was recorded instantly start playing back once the recording process is finished? I know it can record for a predetermined number of bars, but I don’t know what happens after that. Do you need to assign the recording to a track?
I know the Blackbox does this, and I’m wondering if the 707 can do something similar.
Yes you can record in a looper track and then it just keeps looping once recording is over perfectly in time.
Excellent, thanks.
sure:
Thanks.
Further to this, does it loop seamlessly or do you have to mess about trying to get clicks removed?
I’ve given up on the OT for doing any sort of looping on the fly because it is just impossible to get rid of clicks. My partner bought an MC-707 but it’s been sitting unused for the last 4 months or so. She’s fired it up once for 30 minutes because she’s been too busy. I’d love to jam on it and having seamless looping on the fly would be a great motivator to dig into it.
looper is pretty good! I don’t remember having to remove any clicks it’s pretty quick to get patterns going. I actually just returned mine though lol. I think it’s great but I did not vibe with the look of it(I know how shallow of me ). Did not find the sequencer as nice as elektrons either, but really elektron sequencers are one of a kind. Plus I can do everything it can do in ableton much faster so it seemed like overkill. When the synth engine opens up I may take another look at it but right now I’m happy with my minimal set up.
Iv’e just started getting in to my MC-707 today as I have a few weeks to spare.
Anyone know how to “INIT” all parts? I notice when I boot up there’s already a drum kit on channel 1 however is there a way to switch that to a tone track or looper track? I must be blind or missed it in the pdf manual.
Thanks
a empty project starts with a drumtrack on t1 and a tone track on t2.
to change those tracks you select the track, press up until the whole track is selected and delete this (with the menu on the right. then you do create in this menu and can select the type of the track you want to create.
Thanks very much
to speed things up, i use an empty project with my own default track layout and my settings. (Squarp Pyramid style solution)
so, no need to delete default tone track 2 (because i typically use 2 or even 3 drum tracks)
Tried deleting tracks as the guy said above but must be doing something wrong, can’t seem to clear tracks 1 or 2 (drums and tone)
Do you have to start from an empty project or something? I was trying to clear them to make some looper tracks.
I’m probably doing wrong button pushes duh! I’ll keep trying just can’t seem to INIT those 2 tracks here.
There are two settings defined “Clip” and “Track” make sure you scroll up to be in “Track” mode then delete. You might just be deleting a “Clip” not a “Track”.
You can then assign a new tone, track or looper mode afterward.
That’s it duh! I was in clip mode, how silly hehe been trying to do this all day now it’s sorted.
I’ve had the BOSS DD500/RV500 going through the send/return they sound fab on the MC-707 internal sounds. Just wish there was a way to have the external FX amounts on other tracks as well but it seems you can’t do that you have to specify a track, shame but love the MC-707 loads.
I’ve started designing my own presets in the MC-707 you can get some great sounds out of this but I have a question?
Is there any way to save your presets and save to your own folder/category as it’s not clear in the manual, so far I’ve just named my presets and did a project save but I’d like to select my own from a list.
Do your own presets only save to current project?
Cheers
I don’t own a 707 but asked on a YouTube vid the same question. The person confirmed what your suggesting. It is saved within a project. No way to save your own presets outside of that yet. That was their take on it and they seemed to be very knowledgeable.
Hopefully an update will change that as the synths seem pretty complex and geared at creating your own presets. I’ve been on the fence about buying a 707 so been asking questions.
Yeah be good to have this feature implemented. The only workaround is to import presets you’ve used from other projects saved.
Also would be good if you could use the send/return FX per track if you have an external FX connected. Maybe assign 1 control knob per track (assigned)
I’m really liking the sound editing on the MC-707 though it’s really really good IMO
https://youtu.be/XAwMcZ-toOQ This is a great patch creating vid about Sh101 patch clone with the 707. It’s really good. One of my fav channels to watch.
