Count in?
help anyone for 1.6 âŚ
there is now the option to assign 4 knobs for instant controlâŚHow do I access the fourth knob?
I can set a parameter but I do not know how to reach it
There must be a key kombination or so to use the c1 to c4 knobs instead of the three in the track rowâŚ
the fourth knob can be accessed through the step edit screenâŚ
nice
Hi, to all mc 101 users.
Is there any trick to place recorder Loop clip to a Pad of a Drum track?
Did you get this working? Can ZC1 in ZenBeats 2.0 export SDZ/SVZ files?
Iâm trying to find a way to get the new Zenology patches into my MC-101 without having to subscribe to Roland Cloud on my PC.
@KyivMusicHotel I havenât found a way to save audio thatâs been recorded to a Looper track. It saves it in the .mpj Project file, and doesnât appear to be accessible. And it appears that we can only sample from USB into a Looper track, not a drum or tone track like on the MC-707. Someone please correct me if Iâm wrong.
@1ticio I do not have ab MC-101, nor did have I purchased Zenbeats 2 for iPad. Currently, it seems like ZC1 is just the preset engine, with no detailed controls. Hopefully Roland will expand ZC1 to Zenology Pro (or whatever it is called) so that I can at least try the engine to see if I like it. Knowing them it will be an in-app purchase, but I wonât mind if it is good.
Roland are almost there in terms of creating something special - a cross-platform synth/synth engine that allows the user to design sounds using the iPad screen, then use them on hardware, standalone. The class compliant audio is also huge for mobile use.
There is a lot of confusion right now, however, due to the lack of details. Roland dropped it in a Friday and no one is around to answer questions.
How would you power your mc101 when connecting to the ipad? With batteries? I always use it with a phone charger, I donât like batteries that much
I think I read somewhere that an iPad Pro could power it.
damn. only have the standard ipad.
I once tried to power it I believe, but no success
I will try and confirm.
With zenbeats 2.0 on ios you can export sounds on the zc1 synth as .svz files to open in mc101
I paid the ÂŁ10 for the zc1 unlock on ios that lets you export for 101. You get about 800 sounds but I think a lot of them come with the mc grooveboxes already. There isnât much control over the sound but you can have control over the mfx
So basically zc1 is limited and not like zenology
Ah, thanks @muzka Looks like we can either hope and pray for a full version of Zenology Pro for ZenBeats on the iPad, or just use Roland Cloud on the PC right now.
@Unifono Iâm powering the MC-101 with 4x AA rechargeable Energizers (~4 hour life). I use the old Apple USB2.0 CCK, not the newer USB3.0 one with the additional female Lightning port. And a 2017 iPad Pro w/ Lightning port. I need to press and hold the MCâs VALUE dial when powering it on when attached to the iPad, otherwise the MC wonât connect. No idea if the newer iPadâs with the USB-C port can power it w/o batteries. My Windows laptop can though.
Sidenote: the MC-101 is incredibly powerful, but there are so many button combos to remember - it makes the Octatrack look easy!
Oh dear.
Quick, someone lend me their MC-101 and i will test!
Depends on how you use it I guess Simple for simple stuff.
If I ever have to take part at Against the clock I will only take the 101
Love your MC-101 tunes on YT! You should get a commision.
I suppose it becomes muscle memory after some time, but do I want to spend the time learning it? I think soâŚ
ie - recently I learned that we can step-edit the recorded 4x knob movements in STEP EDIT by pressing the VALUE knob. Page 22 of the manual. Hmmm, this is per step, powerful, not quite âElektron-powerfulâ but good. The tradeoff is that ALL 16 drums are affected equally in a drumkit. Not too shabby Roland.
Here is some information from a dev at Zenbeats.
Papertiger asked: will it be, or is it, possible to edit sounds on the MC101 using Zenbeats 2.0? For example, could I create a program/sound/patch then send it to the MC101 via USB, then use that sound on the MC101 when away from Zenbeats? Would it be possible to edit a sound on the MC101 via Zenbeats while it is plugged in to the iPad?
Thanks in advance!
Matthew @ Zenbeats answer: For patch sharing, short answer yes. Today with ZC1 it is only possible to import and export a SVZ file that can be loaded on to any ZEN-Core based hardware. The MC-101 should be able to import the SVZ via the SD card. To do this, make the SVZ using ZC1, then connect your MC-101 in storage mode and copy the SVZ file to the device for import.
If you want more powerful editing capabilities, check out the full ZEN-Core engine using Zenology Pro on macOS and Windows.
And yes, I asked the key follow up question: will the full Zen-core engine, or Zenology Pro, be made available on iOS.
Nice one paper tiger. Thanks for following up.
Thereâs a problem when recording to the iPad: Thereâs no way to disable its internal sound (and enable software monitoring in the DAW). That means that when recording just the MC-101, everything that is playing is recorded, including the DAWâs metronome, the other tracks in the DAW, etc. I tested ZenBeats, GarageBand, BM3, AUM. Workaround is to solo the track, disable metronome, etc.
The âD.USB Mixoutâ setting doesnât help - that just makes the outgoing MC audio independent from the Main Volume knob. (Enabling this setting causes massive feedback in AUM, but not the others).
It needs a setting like in the Elektrons, to disable internal audio.
