MD and headroom

Hello guys, it’s my first post here, I’m a proud owner of a machine drum sps-1uw mk2 for about 2 years I think, but only now I’ve truly realised the possibilities within the machine. My goal is to go completely in the box so I’ve got a couple of questions regarding headroom:

If I have a pattern playing and a efm-hh, and I open the decay of the hh all other sounds “duck” until I close the decay, does this happen only to me? How is it possible to “fix” this?

Do you guys have any tips regarding headroom and mixing in the MD? Such as not having the volumes too high etc? As I said my goal is to go completely in the box, no external processing, so I know I’ll have to work a bit, but any tips and ideas are good.

Look forward to hear from you guys.

maybe compressor settings!

I would check the EQ and Compressor parameters.
Other than that, it’s down to maintaining a good mix.

That was exactly what I was looking for thanks!

Very helpful linking these old threads to the new forum. Valuable information about Dynamix and MD gain staging, answered all my questions. Thank you to all contributors.
