Ah, the terminal command might not be for you then.
Do you have access to a computer with Windows?

I have an older MacOS I could try and I could get hold of a windows machine - I’ll have a look at terminal too
Thanks for the quick response!
@wh69 Is your device showing up in hexloader? I have 1 megacommand that shows up in arduinoIDE as type board “megacommand”, but does not show up in hexloader. I haven’t troubleshot it at all yet, but curious if you have the same issue. I’m also doing this in 10.15 (Catalina).
I’ll check - i have an old mac that i use only for C6 running High Sierra and when i get the chance i will try again using that instead the latest OSX
C6? Are you updating the MD or the megacommand?
Lol - I meant that I am going to try and update the magacommand using my old Mac OS machine running arduinoIDE and hexloader and see if that works (I added the bit about C6 to explain the reason I keep an old mac OS!! Sorry for the confusion…)
Ya. I keep old VMs for the same thing (c6, old doepfer editors, etc).
I just wanted to make sure we are on the same page.
Wow, development is really active lately. Can’t believe I didn’t notice this 4 days ago.
I actually had come in to make a feature suggestion. Was wondering if it would be possible to add an option for MCL to get notified from the MD when you load/change snapshots and automatically load the corresponding project. If it finds a project of the same name load it, otherwise do nothing.
any advice how to update the megacommand via xloader? I’m on windows. Xloader starts flashing but its not successfull.
I’ve changed my mind on this, for the moment. If MD is the beat provider and everything else is chromatic then it actually makes sense to have it the way you’ve set it up, so please disregard and don’t make any changes (for now).
It lends itself to setting up longer pattern-based progressions on other Elektron devices, but also it makes sense for the “current variation” to be in lock-step.
That said I haven’t tried it yet.
I can’t get live recording working via external MIDI. I have my controller connected to Port 2 and forwarding set up to Port 2, but what I play doesn’t record. I tried the “CTRL” channel but that just plays the track chromatically.
Are you talking about recording drum trigs from external MIDI ?
Hasn’t been implemented… yet.
Need more information, did you select the correct “Arduino Type” from within xloader?
Should be MegaCMD for the MegaCMD or MegaCommand for the DIY hardware version.
Thanks Justin,
i wasn’t aware the difference MegaCMD & MegaCommand. After a visit on your shop-site where it’s named correctly i just switched to the right device and all went good. MD upgraded & MegaCMD flashed. Runs fine.
Maybe a short description of the whole flashing process in the manual or in the changelog for beginners would be a good idea.
There are instructions on the download page for each release.
Hello. I just updated the MegaCommand to 4.11 and MD to X06. I can’t figure out what can be the problem, but when I put notes to the grid or I set the length of the track or anything, it just resets when it reaches the end of the pattern (step 16). I mean the steps are not there anymore, also the track length resets back to 16… Is there something needs to be changed in the Global Setting menu or somewhere ? Thanks !!!
Ok, I don’t know what was the problem, but after a new peering with the MCL, now it works fine. The only problem I noticed that if I change something on the MCL for example the track length, if I change it on MCL the notes disappear when setting shorter length, but the step indicator still steps 16 like I had before the track length shortening and I need to press the record twice on the MD to go out and back from step edit mode to show the right settings.
could be a thing, haven’t tried that but will, but i’d say learn to stop using MCL for tasks you can do via the MD interface and live the intended dream.
Yeah I am already using the MD interface for everything which is possible on it. I was just messing with MCL and quickly jumped to shorten the steps on one of the channels and noticed that it is not updating the step indicator. I think it was not the case with the previous firmware, that’s why I’am asking, but thanks for your advice.
