Micromonsta 2

What should I expect from audiothingies, if they’re sold out do they have new stock coming relatively soon, or will I have to wait a long time/lurk on reverb? Never owned any of their gear but liking a lot of these demos.

Elektrosamplist wrote on AudioFanzine forum that they’ll post more stock on the site on December 1st.

Cliché I know, but the reverb on this thing nails the Bladerunner atmospheric sound. Moreso than any other onboard reverb I’ve heard.

Thanks for posting all these great videos. This one is my favourite, so far. So stoked.

How does it compare to the Digitone @sezare56? Does it have the same body and depth? Richer? Thinner? It’s hard to tell from the demos. I gave up on a Digitone because I felt, despite its lovely character, it didn’t quite fill up the spaces in the ways I preferred. But I’m biased to Sequential and perhaps it’s that analogue character that can’t be replaced by anything else.

Anyone feel like comparing this with the Blofeld? Both in terms of sound and especially workflow.

Wow, sounds lovely!

It would be interesting to make a side by size comparison. I didn’t try them together yet, focusing on MM2 first. :content:
I like both very much and I will see later how I’ll combine them…

Btw MM2 should be compared to a Virus TI or a Blofeld.

Digitone is a kind of hybrid FM/substractive synth. More capable concerning FM of course, having 2+1 operators and feedback. I’d say it can be sharper with these extra harmonics.
The second filter can be helpful. The fx filters are appreciable too.

Apart from oscillators, MM2 has a classic substrative synth structure.
MM2 Osc1 has FM capable oscs, with different waveforms such sine, saw, square, modulated by Osc3 having different waveforms including wavetables. There is a simple noise generator.
A shape parameter can morph drastically different oscs or wavetables (see below the osc characteristics).
More filter types, FM filter, better drive, giving a more analog character.
A matrix with 10 modulations, 3 lfos, 3 envelopes…

Thank you  sounds more and more interesting.

I skipped the first batch because I didn’t want to risk denying someone else from getting one - presumably someone more prepared to make music and record with it sooner than myself.

Don’t think I could resist the next batch though.

I had the Blo before MM1. I preferred it quickly, much easier/faster to edit, I preferred its filters, more analog sounding.
I much prefer the MM2 so…

Eeeeenteresting. I’ll hold off a bit yet (there’s maybe an OB-6 coming my way first) but I think Mr. Blofeld might not be long for this world.

You preferred Blo or MM1?

MM1. I was missing multitimbrality / voices but I preferred its sound. Filters!
