Okay so had a look in the manual.

This is very, very important:

You get 300 programs slots + 100 combi slots to save your sound creations.
The 100 combi slots also save their 2 sound programs in separate program slots (so you get 300 + 2 x 100 = 500 program slots in total).

This is not only important because who doesnā€™t want more memory?
But this is what the A4 does. This is what the Nord Leads do. ā€œCombi Slotsā€ = Saves a copy of your program in the multi, so that when you are editing the multi, you are not changing the original patch at all.
Non destructive multi-mode!

Somehow this $295 synth has a feature that you canā€™t even get in any of Waldorfā€™s offerings. (says more about Waldorf than anything else).

Yea , if I do break my no hardware poly synth rule (plugins are just so good), then this seems like the best option. Two layers is perfect, more than that gets pretty complex on a menu based instrument, and only ones feels like a waste of an opportunity on a digital synth

Major plus over the Blofeld for those comparing!!

Indeed, and that is a fair comparison.
And yet not even the quantum, iridium, or kyma have this scheme.

That said, the feature set and sound gives me some Prophet 12 meets Nord Lead 3 vibes.

Going to have to ask :santa:, but I think Iā€™ve been a pretty good boy this year.

That sounds incredibly good!
Yea!

I would use it in a similar context, paired with OT.

I think there is no denying the sound is there. The real question for me now is how well to get on with the interface. It doesnā€™t seem like the menu system has the kind of multiple levels that warrants the phrase, ā€œmenu divingā€.
How do you find the navigation?

Am I weird for kinda wanting a keyboard version?

That sounds really nice. Phat bass. Some great modulation.

If I had more money and space Iā€™d have likely sprung for a bi-timbral Sequential poly by now, but I donā€™t, so this is a perfect alternative for me. Seems to be incredibly good value. I really like my digitone, but Iā€™m still more comfortable with subtractive style synthesis, which this does nicely (and more!).

That patch ā€œP057 PureOR!ā€ is a nice one. Is that one of the factory presets ? If it is, Iā€™d love to know what oscillator types are used.

Just been on their website, out of stock :frowning: is there no way to pre-order? This thing sounds great.

The website indicates more will be available Dec. 1stā€¦ Just pull an all nighter hitting refresh until they show up as available. LoL.

Looks really interesting
The big question is thoughā€¦ howĀ“s the supersaw? Does it hold up against a JP8000 or Virus?

I think itā€™s pretty good. I had a Virus TI Desktop a few weeks before, experimented Hypersaw, up to 9, with Unison. MM2 is absolutely not ridiculous compare to it.

MM2 supersaws can be used as FM sources, and modulated simply with shape (detune).

Holy hell, this sounds superb! Hopefully they plan to continue building them for a while yet. Got a few essential things on my studio radar first.

My #1 feature request is a way to preview sounds on-box. Itā€™s such a tiny wonder that sips power from a USB battery, Iā€™d love to do dive into its deep sound design options on the train. But if I have to bring a MIDI keyboard alongā€¦ :frowning:

There are 11 pushbuttons on the front. Thatā€™s 1 for scale selection/esc, 8 for notes, and 2 for octaves. Even just having one a la the Mopho or 5 like the PreenFM2 would be very workable.

Keeping my :crossed_fingers: for future firmware magic.
