MIDI loopback trick yielding very slight param changes

Hi there

Sorry about the cross posting. I think I put my question in the wrong thread before.

Question about the midi loopback trick

So I’ve got my midi out going to the midi in of the DN.

I set up some midi tracks on the FX midi channel.

Assign those midi tracks to control the FX parameters.

The problem is, when I parameter lock the midi control, even with a very wide swinging parameter locks (eg step 1 at zero and step two at 119) the parameter only moves a tiny bit. For example, going to the FX page and observing the parameter - it’s barely moving, just slightly - less than one digit. Visually, the pot for the delay time (for example) is just slightly wiggling.

Sometimes I can get it to swing wildly as I’ve parameter locked it, sometimes not. I can’t seem to get it to consistently reflect the actual parameter locks that I’ve set on the midi track.

I’m just wondering if someone has run across this and knows what I’m doing wrong. I like the sound of parameter locking the master FX.

Sounds like you are addressing teh Least Significant Bit side of a 14bit CC or NRPN - if you can monitor the parameter or reference the midi manual you should choose the MSB or Most significant Bit

You have a resolution (by teh sounds of it) which is only taking you between two adjacent parameter steps on the MSB scale - this is just user error or lack of awareness

This assumes a comment i read a day or so ago is correct (that most params of DN are High resolution - just like PitchBend data usually is
