I’m trying to control my DT from my DN using MIDI.
I’m using auto channel (10) to send program change messages. In the DN I’ve unchecked the “send program change” option, because I want to program the changes in the sequencer. In the DT I’ve checked the “receive program change” option.
I’ve set up the MIDI T1 track to use channel 10. In the sequencer, I set a trig in step 9 to activate MIDI T1. I’ve put the “program” parameter to 1 using a parameter lock.
When I start the DN, the DT starts automatically (at pattern 9), and MIDI clock sync works. When the sequencer reaches step 9, a strange sound is heard, but the DT doesn’t change to pattern 1 as expected.
I’m using last firmware available in both machines.
Program changes without the sequencer works, even if the DT is playing. When I manually send a program change message by turning the knob that controls the program parameter in MIDI track T1, the DT changes its program.
MIDI notes works.
MIDI program change set up in the sequencer has worked once (?) and then hasn’t worked anymore.
No, the “send program change” option is used to send program changes automatically when the pattern changes. For example, if the DN goes from pattern 1 to pattern 2, it sends a PC message to the DT and the DT also changes to pattern 2.
It has nothing to do with the messages you send by hand or program into the sequencer.
On the other hand, I’ve solved my problem. It seems that when programming the sequencer a lot of MIDI messages are sent and the machines MIDI processor crashes or something. If I program the sequencer with the MIDI cables unplugged and, once finished, I plugged them, it seems to work as intended.
So now I have DN controlling PC on the DT and vice versa. It is not song mode, but almost.
