Hi there,
I’m pulling out the little hair I have left for a few days now so I will ask a probably stupid/noob question but I couldn’t figure out how to solve this so here we go.
I have 4 Elektron Boxes and a Micromonsta 2.
My setup is the following :
MIDI :
DT (OUT) —> (IN) ST (Midi Thru) —> (IN) DN (Midi Thru) —> (IN) A4 (Midi Thru)
This miding routing was first only meant to send clock from the DT (Master) to the other boxes. It works really well.
AUDIO :
MM2 -> A4 -> DN -> ST -> DT
I would like my DT to send notes to the MM2. Is there any way to achieve this without modifying my setup ? I would like to use one of the 8 midi tracks from the DT to send notes to the MM2 but for now the only way I found was to sacrify one track of every other box to send the midi through them.
(Don’t wanna change my setup as I just finished my “performance flight case” and everything is at the good place now :-))
Any idea of how to deal with this?
Cheers!
For now, the only way I found was to put an external instrument on Ableton and sending midi notes from it to the MM2. But that’s a bit “annoying” cause I want my setup to be able to work both with the comptuer and without… So every idea is welcome
Simple way : A4 (Thru) MM2 in.
You can try it but that is a long daisy chain.
Or DN out > MM2 in using DN midi tracks.
If you just send clock, you can use Midi Out instead of thru to send back clock (receive AND send).
With DT notes:
DT out > ST in, ST out > DN…
ST thru > MM2
The simple way (A4 Thru MM2) needs to “sacrify” one of the 4 A4 tracks ?
I like the Idea of keeping everything in place but using DN out to MM2 in, I think I am gonna try this one. I just need to add one more midi cable and won’t need to change the others. (To be sure I understood it correctly : I keep DN thru A4 and I add DN out MM2 in, right ?)
Thank you!
a small update : the Digitone option was the perfect choice
so thank you for your help on this one; my setup is now fully working :
